EXCRETORY (RENAL) SYSTEM

The excretory system is a passive biological system that removes excess,

unnecessary materials from the body fluids of an organism. The excretory system
in humans consists mainly of the kidneys and bladder. The kidneys filter urea and
other waste products from the blood, which are then added to the urine within the
bladder. Other organs, such as the liver, process toxins but put their wastes back
into the blood. It is up to the kidneys to filter the blood so that toxic substances
do not accumulate. These organs can be seen in the image below.

It refers to both urination and defecation and to the processes that take place in the
digestive and urinary systems, as the kidney and liver filter wastes, toxins.

It is an essential process in all living things. It is one of the major ways the human
body maintains homeostasis. It also helps prevent damage to the body. Wastes
include by-products of metabolism, some of which are toxic, and other non-useful
materials, such as used up and broken-down components.

The product of the kidneys is urine system consists of the kidneys, ureters, bladder,
and urethra, which is the only structure not visible in the sculpture above.
The main function of the urinary system is to eliminate the waste products of
metabolism from the body by forming and excreting urine. Between 1 and 2 liters
of urine are normally produced every day in a healthy individual

Kidneys

The human kidneys are the major organs of bodily excretion (see Figure 26-1).
They are bean-shaped organs located on either side of the backbone at about the
level of the stomach and liver. Blood enters the kidneys through renal arteries and
leaves through renal veins. Tubes called ureters carry waste products from the
kidneys to the urinary bladder for storage or for release. The product of the
kidneys is urine.

Ureters

The function of ureter is to:

 . filter urea from the blood.
 To pump blood to parts of the body.
 . allow the urine to pass from the kidney to bladder.
 . store the urine that produced by the kidney.
