PROF ED 9 – Building and Enhancing New Literacies Across the Curriculum

Aaron B. Tecson III – A

Module 8: Cyber and Digital Literacy

Task 1: Choose one from the samples of dilemmas to be resolved in class and give
your reaction and possible solution on it.

Dilemma No: _2_

Reaction:
For my reaction with the said dilemma, I think both sides has a responsibility for
what happens. Why? Because even if there is a consent, taking videos on your
nude body while bathing is not a good thing to do. And we all know that the
videos that are already recorded even if you don’t want to post or upload it, this
may accidentally be spread because nowadays we have what we call auto
upload specially if you change the settings in your camera or gallery. So for me,
both of them has responsibility because of their negligence or they are not aware
of this possible problem.

Possible Solution:
The solution is just simple. Even if you have a consent, allowing others to take
video of your nude body is not a good idea. There is always a risk when taking
pictures or videos of yourself. Just like what happen in the said dilemma, so to
avoid this accidents, it is better to do it yourself. If you really want to take pictures
or record yourself, you may do it personally because any accidents or problem
that occur, you are the one who will take responsibility of what you do.
Task 2: Look closely at the old screenshot of a Facebook post in the diagram below
and answer the questions that follow.

Task 3: Choose a partner and read the Conceptual Framework for Survival Skills in the
Digital Era by: Yoham Eshet-Alkalai in your google class materials and answer the
following:
1. How does the author describe digital literacy?
Digital literacy, according to the author, entails a wide range of complex
cognitive, physical, sociological, and emotional skills that users require in order to
properly participate in digital environments. It goes beyond simply knowing how
to use software or operate a digital device. The tasks necessary in this context
include, for example, "reading" instructions from user interface graphical
displays, using digital reproduction to create new, meaningful materials from old
ones, building knowledge from nonlinear, hypertextual navigation, evaluating the
quality and validity of information, and having a mature and realistic
understanding of the "rules" that govern cyberspace.
2. Using a schematic diagram, present the salient points presented in the paper.
