1.safety items
MLS is a kind of safety device used for crane to further improve the safety of the crane in the
process of operation. If used properly, MLS can prevent cranes from capsizing. Be sure to read the
manual before operating the crane. In order to realize the function of safety, operate the crane
correctly and employ the device of MLS properly. If not, it may result in dangers.
Tips:
a) Make sure the MLS system is normal before you operate the crane.
b) Set up properly the switches connected with MLS and parameters.
c) While operating the crane, one should pay attention to the data of the MLS to insure working in
the range of the crane’s capability and prevent from overloading effectively.
d) Once overloading occurs, the MLS will send out a sound and light alarm and output overloading
signal automatically, combining the periphery control circuit of the crane, the action(such as rise
the hang hook and change the range downwards etc.) of the dangerous direction of the crane
will be cut off. When the above-mentioned circumstance take place, one should make the crane
act towards safe direction (e.g.lay down the hang hook and change the breadth upwards etc.) till
the MLS stop alarming, then carry on other operations of the crane.
e) According to the People's Republic of China national standard 《GB7950 - 1999 the currency
technique condition for the arm type crane rising the MLS》and 《the safe technical criterion of
the crane overloading protector GB12602-90 》 provision, the crane can only have the
protection function to the overload crane within the crane’s vertical uprightness plane, instead of
inclined suspend, inclining or cave-in of the ground or the orbit as well as the crane’s turning
over trouble caused by stepped cartwheel off the track.etc. Therefore, relevant responsible
personnel will never neglect the crane’s relevant safety management and safety operation
regulations due to the existence of the MLS, and have to obey the crane’s safety operation rules
strictly and other concerning provisions and regulations.

2. The characteristics and capability
l The product have a protection for the overtaking the power supply voltage, anti-connection of
the power supply , the thunder defense.
l Before leaving factory all product pass through strict tests. The quality is stabile, the capability
is credible and each capability all surpass the national standard 《GB7950 - 1999 》and the
provisions of《the GB12602 - 90 》.
l The MLS installes black box, which is also called the Data Recorder. It can circulate to record
the crane’s overload data and can completely recur the crane’s relevant data at overload.
l The product adopts advanced techniques in the world with high integration; the display’s inner
part will illumine against the light; all data hold a manifestation, without needing a key to shift.
l Operating temperature: -25 ° C~+70 ° C
Storage temperature: -40 ° C~+85 ° C
l The function of pre-computing automatically
After adjusting more than 100 sets track cranes ,our company summarizes the advanced
calculating method. That function can decrease the process and the time of adjusting, and the
system’s synthesizes accuracy is very high. All this has got the verification in your company.
Later this model track that your company produce needn’t offer the specialized adjusting time,
during the adjusting process of the track suspending, the technician can independently complete
the adjusting of my company’s MLS, and needs to adjust a main arm in one section, the other
arms includes the vice- arm will be completed by automatical calculation .
l The perfect function of the front-panel adjusts and the management
The relevant data of the track all can complete the adjusting and memory by the front-panel;
The work condition code adopts Germany importing switch options, can immediately complete
the choice without electricity. The biggest work quantity is 9999 kinds;
l Excellent calculation method of the track type crane
The primary calculation method is as follows:
(a)Correcting the changed breadth and scratching the bends
(b)Correcting the multiplying power’s deviation of the steel wire rope
(c)Correcting the rising and changed breadth of the steel wire rope’s moment.

4.1.1 Early-warning signal indicator


When the crane’s actual carrying weight attains 90% ~100% of the crane’s rating carrying

weight, t he yellow early-warning signal indicator light shows that it has already neared to
overload at this time, the operator should pay more attention while continueing operation.

4.1.2 Overload signal indicator

When the crane’s actual load attains or over the crane’s rating carrying weight,
the red warning signal indicator lights, the buzzer rings in the meantime, combining the exterior
control circuit of that crane, it can stop the suspending hook’s rising,suspending breadth downwards
and other action.
Along with the action(putting down heavy things or heading up operation) of the safety direction,
that state can be relieved automatically

4.1.3 Bar code(the moment percentage indicator)


According to the percentage between the real carrying weight and the
rating carrying weight ,bar code will instruct differently.Because the real carrying weight will change
along with the action of the crane’s hook, this bar code also will change frequently coinciding with
the crane’s rating data.
The bar code is divided into three districts:
-Green district:Certainly within 90% of the rating bearing weight moment.
-Yellow and early-warning district:Attain 90% ~100% of the rating bearing weight moment.
-Red warning district:Exceed 100% of the rating bearing weight moment.

4.1.4 Operating keys
keys and indicator is the one. As a key operational used, the keys have multiple functions,and the
specific content of this statement will be seen in chapter 5 of this manual.

4.1.6 The buzzer
The buzzer will send out the continous warning under such following situation.
l The crane’s actual load attains the scope of the overload signal set in advance
l The system error
l Attain the top and bottom limits of the radius
l Operate mistakenly

4.1.7 The switch for reliefing overload


This switch can relif the control of MLS.
Notice: The switch is used only in exceptional circumstances, such as: dismantling the crane, the
crane will need to put down.

4.1.8 The switch for choosing the work condition code

It is used to choose the work condition;Concrete corresponding table of the work condition will be
seen on the appendix 1.
Notice: You should not operate the switch too forcibly , otherwise you might damage components.

4.4The instruction of the angle


sensor parts
The angle sensor installs generally at the root of the boom,
while installing it should keeps as possible as level.
Concerning technique parameter is as follows:
l Input the voltage: -5V
l The scope of the measuring angle: within 100 degrees
l The voltage of the angle signal: -1.00V~-2.25V
l The corresponding angle of the angle signal voltage: 0
degree~90 degree

5.The operation and adjustment
The key and switches used during the operation and adjustment of the MLS show as the figure
8. The display has totally 2 sets stirring code switch which are the work condition choice switch and
the arm length switch.There are 5 keys below,from the left to right, they are the unlock key, the
upward key, the downward key, the cancel key and the confirm key(with indicator light). After
openning the machine ,the keyboard is locked and cannot work.

5.1 Operation
5.1.1 choose the work condition
We should set up correctly switch in accordance with the actual situation of cranes .( The work
condition code see appendix 4))
5.1.2 choose the main boom length
We should set up the main boom length in accordance with the actual situation of cranes .( The
boom length code see appendix 4))
5.1.3 The operation window
All operation informations will be manifestated in the operation window. It is blank under normal
circumstances .
5.1.4 The " unlock " key
Press" unlock " for 2 seconds, the operating window manifestates" unlock", after pressing the " enter
" key, the operating window will be pure, the keyboard unlock successfully. All operation
informations here after will be manifestated in the operation window.
After unlocking, pressing a key each time it can activate the corresponding function setup
procedure. After circulating, the keyboard returns to lock automatically again, except the
parameter obserbation function .

5.2 Parameter observation
The user can observe the input voltage of the angle and the force by this function.INGhe scope
of the voltage is between0-5V. 0-0.5V and 4.5-5V are innormal input scope,which need
examine the MLS to confirm the malfunction.
After the keyboard unlocks,press the “downward key”,two lines number will occur in the
operating window. The first line is parameter to show which one and the second line is the
value of the parameter.
The first parameter is the voltage value of signal force one. (The show value divide ten)
The second parameter is the voltage value of signal force two. (The show value divide ten)
The third parameter is the voltage value of signal angle. (The show value divide ten)
The forth to fifteenth parameters is the middle value run in the inner procedure which are
used by debugging personel.
If the system using only a signal of the sensor, the second parameter is not using
in the system and is invalid value.

5.3 Transform Between the Chinese and English

To different languages users the machine can transform between English and Chinese which is very
convenient.
The default status is Chinese language .
a) Transform Chinese into English
After the keyboard unlocking,press the “upward” key .The display manifestates “语言选择”,
“English”. Press the“upward” key or”downward” key and then choose Chinese. The display
manifestates” 语言选择”,” 中文 ”,and then press “cancel” key it return without modification.
press “enter” key, the display manifestates” 语言选择”, “English” for one second returning. The
menu displays English.
b) Transform English into Chinese
After the keyboard unlocking,press the “upward” key .The display manifestates “language”,
“English”. Press the “upward” key or the “downward” key and then choose Chinese. the
display manifestates” language” ,” 中文 ”,and then press “cancel ” key it return without
modification. press “enter” key, the display manifestates” language”, “ 中文 ” for one second
returning. The menu displays in chinese.

5.4 Empty hook adjustment

Because of the variety of the boom itself weight, under the sistuation that change main boom length
or jib length,the warp of the empty hook value need to return zero processing, the ways are as
follows:
a) The operating work condition and the multiplying power choice switch should be
the corresponding work condition and multiplying power. The display show the

work condition, the main arm length and the vice-arm length correctly. In the state
of empty hook, the boom should stop at the angle one such as 40 degree for 30
seconds.
b) Press “unlock” for 2 seconds, the operating window will show “unlock”, after
pressing the “confirm” key, the operating window will clean the screen and the
keyboard will unlock successfully.
c) Filling the weight of the hook, see Article 5.6the system enactment(usually the
inner system has had windows default without filling in)
d) After unlocking the keyboard, press the “downward” key, the screen will show
“detect ” “angle1”; press “enter ”, it will show “detect ” “angle1”; two seconds
later,the screen switch automatically showing “detect”,“angle 2”
e) Uplift the boom to the angle two such as 70 degree for 30 seconds.
f) Press “enter ”, the screen will show “detect ”, “angle2”
g) Press “ enter” again, the screen will show “detect ”, “angle2”; two seconds later, it
will show “success”, another two seconds later, the screen will clean and return to
the normal state, then the empty hook revision complete.
When revise the empty hook, some problems shold be noticed as follows:
l Both from the big angle to small angle or the reversed direction, the empty hook
can be revised.
l The difference between the two angles as far as possible big, it should be close to the
smallest and the biggest angle in the range of the work condition function.
l The difference between angle one and angle two is no more than 5 degree;
otherwise it is inefficient and the empty hook cannot be revised.
l It is better to revise the empty hook within the range of the function.
l Because of the counting saving, to the work condition with vice-arm,if the empty
hook revision has never been done at such work condition, then it needs two or
three times to adjust it.
l The inner of this machine has memory CMOS chip which has the function to
revise memory. In the past the empty hook at other work condition is remembered
automatically, so next time when using the used work condition, if the empty
hooks’ weight doesn't greatly differ(within five ton), it needn’t be revised.

5.5 Time modification


a) Press “unlock” for two seconds, the operating window will show“ unlock”;After
pressing the “enter” key, the operating window will clean the screen and the
keyboard is unlocked successfully.
b) Press “cancel” to enter the time modification, the screen will show “datetime”,
“minute”, press the upward key the month will increase, press the downward key
the month will decrease, press the “cancel” key,it will return, press the “enter ”key
in turn to enact the hour, day, month and year. After enactment in turn it will
return automatically, but the century can’t be enacted.

5.6.1 The steps for entering the system setup
a) After pressing the unlock key for two seconds, the operating window will show
“unlock” ;After pressing the “enter” key, the operating window will clean the
screen, and the keyboard unlocks successfully
b) Press the “enter” key and enter the system setup menu.

5.6.2 The summarization of the system setup menu


The system enactment has nine submenu,they are: the hook ‘reeving, the hook’ weight, the
additional constant weight , analogy channel, machmodulus , addition constant weight setup, change
password, overload list, system reset.
(a) Reeving
The hook reeve displays“Hook Re.”It includes the main hook’s reeve (abbreviate
“Ma.Reeve”)and the auxiliary hook’s reeve(abbreviate “Au.Reeve”). You can fill in the
hook reeve number here used at present.If the setting is zero ,then you should use the hook
reeve number commended by the function curve at present.
(b) The hook’s weight
The hook’s weight displays“Hook We.”.It includes the main hook’s weight (abbreviate
“M.Weight”)and the auxiliary hook’s weight(abbreviate “A.Weight”). You can fill in the
hook’s weight here used at present. The units changed with the the metric system and
Imperial,including metre-m,ton-t or T ,kp.
Using the main hook then fill in the main hook’s weight, if using the vice hook then
fill in the vice hook’s weight. The number here should accord with the fact.
Otherwise it will affect the crane’s function. If the enacting number of the hook’s
weight is negative, after revision it will enlarge the crane’s function, so the MLS
can’t work as the protection function and the result is severe.
(c) Additional constant weight
Additional constant weight displays“ACWeight ”. This function is used for Standard
weight (abbreviate “Standard”)or additional weight (abbreviate “Additio.”)but when
additional weight is forbid (it displays “ Forbid”)which can’t be used.
(d) Analog channel
It always displays“ AChannel”. It includes analog zero and analog Factor. Only enter
the password the submenu such as “ A1.Zero”, “ A1Factor” ;“ A1.Zero”,
“ A1Factor”and so on can be read.This function is used by the adjustment personnel so
we will not illuminate here. After finishing the adjustment,this function cannot be used
strictly.
(e) machmodulus
It always displays “MachMod.”.Its submenu include pulley weight(abbreviate
“PulleyW.”),barycenter(abbreviate “Barycent”),sparepara1(abbreviate “1Sp.Para”)and
sparepara2(abbreviate “2Sp.Para”). Only enter the password the submenu can be
read.This function is used by the adjustment personnel so we will not illuminate here.
After finishing the adjustment,this function cannot be used strictly.
(f) Additional constant weight setup
It displays “ACW.Set.”. Its submenu include “ Disable.”, “ Enable ”. Only enter the
password the submenu can be read.This function is used by the adjustment personnel to set

the addition weight . After finishing the adjustment,this function cannot be used strictly.
(g) Change password
It displays “ChangeP.”. Its submenu include“ ChangeP. ”,“ NewPass.”, “ ChangeOK.”. Only
enter the password the submenu can be read.This function is used by the adjustment
personnel so we will not illuminate here. After finishing the adjustment,this function cannot
be used strictly
(h) Transform unit
It displays“ Unit ”. It include “ m/tonne”“ ft/Ton “ ft/kIbs”. It displays white if
chosen ,for example
“ ft/Ton” .The chosen unit will display after exit the system set.

(i) The overload list
It displays“Ov. List ” .Circulating record the overload number of the crane,emerse the relevant data
at overload perfectly,when the pedtrail overloads, it will record automatically,including the overload
time,the real carrying weight,the rating carrying weight,the main arm length, the vice-arm length,
theboom’s elevation, the work range, the rising height, the work condition code and other data,
providing integrated records for the future examination.
(J) system reset
It displays“SysReset ”. Its submenu include“ Reset ”.After resetting the system if it is successful
then dispalyed“ Reset OK.”. Only enter the password the submenu can be read.This function is
used by the adjustment personnel ,by which we can reset the machine to some condition at the same
time the adjustment Coveraged. After finishing the adjustment,this function cannot be used strictly .

6.Daily maintenance

After electrifing, this moment can immediately work automatically without any operation
In daily maintenance some notices as follows:
l Each part of the moment: Host ( display), sensor and others are adjusted precisely and
processed for protection before leaving the factory, therefore nobody can dismantle its outer
covering unless the professional trained personnel. Otherwise the humidity and dust maybe enter
the internal organization, which can't keep its normal work.
l Each part of the moment: Host ( display), sensor and others cannot be heavily shaked.
l Display front-panel should be cleaned slightly by using the absorbent cotton etc.
l While washing the crane, never wash the surface of the moment’s parts directly by using the
water.( excepted the sensor)Otherwise , our company will be irresponsible to all the results.
The daily maintenance work of the MLS includes the following checks:
l Check the covering of each part of the MLS, if some part is damaged, it should be replaced or
notify immediately the technician to maintain.
l Check all the cables conjuncted the system, if some cable is damaged, it should be replaced
immediately.
l Check the insulation of the force transducer which links the cables and the wires, if the
insulating layer is worn away or the wire is damaged, the damage part should be replaced
immediately.

Note: The personnel without training by Xuzhou ChanghangScience&Technology


Limited Company cannot rectify the MLS, and also cannot replace the
damage parts or conjunct the cables.

7.Error code
If it breakdowns, the code will show on the adjust the work condition choice switch
right panel in the display window.The properly and turn it to the allowable scope.
