HONORS AND AWARDS:

In 2014 all major dairy groups decided to announce the birthday of Mr. Varghese Kurien 26th

November as a National Milk Day.

In 1963 Mr. kurien was awarded with the RAMON MAGSAYSAY AWARD by Ramon

Magsaysay award foundation.

In 1965 and 1966 the Indian government honored Mr. Kurien with PADMA SHRI and

PADMABHUSHAN respectively.

In the year 1986 the government of India honored Mr. Kurien with another award which is

KRISHI RATNA, the Netherland government also awarded him with an award named

WATELER PEACE PRIZE.

Later in 1989, he was awarded with the WORLD FOOD PRIZE AWARD, and in 1993 he

was honored as the international person of the year.

In 1997 the France government and the ministry of agriculture awarded Mr. Kurien with the

award called ORDER OF AGRICULTURE MERIT.

In the year 1999 the Indian government again awarded him with PADMA VIBHUSHAN.

PERSONAL TIME:

Mr. kurien married Susan Molly Peter in 1953 . In 1957 Mr. kurien and Mrs. kurien was

superb happy of giving birth to a baby girl named Nirmala kurien.

SUMMARY:
After the research, I am surprised to know much more things that I like to learn and adopt in

my own life. Mr. kurien learnt everything from his surroundings and at his own risk. The way

he approaches the youth of this generation and motivating them with his actions are

miserable. Mr. kurien never got stop to learn something. The management skills of Mr.

kurien shows that every step we take must be confident and must lead to the way of success.

Starting with nothing and being number one is not a simple thing. he also educated the

farmers and made them to listen to him and his ideology, this made AMUL as one of the best

brands all over India.

I feel emotional balance is every important to every one as Mr. Varghese Kurien’s father

died, he managed his emotions and followed his career and goal. There are much more things

that youth should know from past generations. However as everyone Mr. kurien didn’t stop

from learning. His actions surprised me that he lived for himself as well as for the farmers.

This type of character never gets failures.

This research not only increased my research skill but also my taught me much more in data

collection .and also taught me how to increase my skills like vocabulary, writing skills etc.

Previously I am not sure about fact percentage of the information.

These information and skills developed in me and helped me to renovate internally and

externally.

ROUTINE AND INTRESTS OF THE PROMINENT PERSON:

We all know how AMUL has been number one in milk products. His hard work and

dedication inspired me a lot. Mr. kurien never stop to learn. His ideology can’t be imagined.

As a student of business administration, I must learn the business techniques, strategies, risk
management. Mr. kurien faced lot of problems when he started but he never stopped and

faced it. Every situation he faced has become a miracle. once the major problem of India is

caste, Mr. kurien faced the caste problem at the time of supply of milk to the people. He

managed everything on his own like dealing with collection, production, packaging,

transportation. The words that changed me internally said by kurien is “LIFE IS LIKE A

CHESS GAME, PLAN 3 MOVES AHEAD”.
