TECH NOTES

AV LAN DHCP Server – Firmware version 3.00.0000-b022 is the minimum

firmware version required to enable the AV LAN DHCP Server. Control processors
with AV LAN have a DHCP Server on the AV LAN (disabled by default). The AV LAN
DHCP Server can be enabled and disabled via Toolbelt. The AV LAN DHCP Server will
be disabled when initiating a Network Settings Reset or a Factory Reset.

Updating firmware – IP Link Pro firmware can be updated from Extron’s Toolbelt
utility.

Renaming the firmware file – Please avoid renaming the firmware file with spaces
or special characters except for hyphen and underscore as that will result in a
firmware update failure.

Minimum Firmware Versions in Controller Groups – When a controller group is

formed, the same version of firmware must be loaded to all members of the
controller group.

Online devices that were previously paired to a system – Any Extron network
devices added to a project in the system manager such as TLP’s, NBP’s, SPD’s
(secure platform devices) or secondary controllers that are not part of a current
system should have their pairing information cleared to prevent issues with central
deployment.

Extron Control feature in embedded default web pages– Extron Control for UI
Devices can be launched from the primary controller’s embedded default web page.
This feature only works with systems that support HTML5.

Factory Default SSL Certificate – The factory default SSL Certificate is a self-
signed SSL Certificate, seen on products in the factory default state. Please contact
your IT department to obtain a valid signed SSL Certificate.

IPL / IPCP Pro and IPCP Pro xi Series incompatibility –IPCP Pro xi Series
control processors are incompatible with IPL/IPCP Pro control processors; therefore,
they cannot be used together in controller group systems.

Use FQDN whenever DHCP is enabled - To successfully deploy a system using

DHCP, any network devices within the configuration or program that utilize DHCP
should be referenced by their Fully Qualified Domain Name (given a device's
hostname is myhostname, its FQDN would be "myhostname.domain.com"). Devices
on the AV LAN shall be referenced using "myhostname.local"

KNOWN ISSUES
The following is a list of known firmware issues found in the IP Link Pro Firmware
Version 3.16.0000-b013

Issue (originated in v3.09.0000-b009) – Incorrect GUI rendering on Extron

Control for Microsoft Teams Rooms when using Chrome browser – In room
systems that use Extron Control for Microsoft Teams, elements in large layout files
may not load properly on Extron Control for Web when using Chrome browser.

Issue (originated in v3.00.0000-b022) – Batch firmware upload may result

in failure – Attempting to batch upgrade/downgrade firmware to multiple devices
may intermittently result in an Error Code 8, Error Code -12 or otherwise be
unsuccessful. Reducing simultaneous connection to 5 in the firmware uploader,
restarting Toolbelt and power cycling the device shall help to overcome these issues.
With an improvement to Toolbelt (version 2.1), these occurrences are experienced
less frequently.

Issue (originated in v.3.00.0000-b022) – Event Logs Timestamp display UTC

time – Regardless of Date and Time configuration in Toolbelt, Events are logged
referencing UTC time zone.

Issue (originated in v1.00.0008) – Ethernet reconnection timeout – In a

configured system using a unidirectional Ethernet or Serial over Ethernet driver, the
control and status of the device will be lost for approximately 15 minutes if the
target device is power cycled, or the Ethernet connection is lost and restored.

Issue (Originated in 3.09.0000-b009) - NAV encoders and decoders fail to

properly connect to the primary control processor after deployment - After
deploying a control system with multiple NAV encoders and decoders as Secure
Platform Devices, some NAV encoders and decoders fail to properly connect to the
primary control processor. This results in: (1) the control system reporting these
NAV devices as disconnected and (2) the Pro Series Control Ports on the NAV device
may or may not function. The workaround is to reboot the NAV device or to re-apply
pairing information to the affected NAV device from either the primary controller or
directly.

mode included to improve the project recovery workflow.

Fixed Issue (originated in v1.06.0000-b005) – Switched 12VDC Power Ports

status not working – The combined load and combined wattage feedback state is
not working, if configured for status nothing is returned. This issue has been
resolved.

Fixed Issue (originated in v1.00.0008) – Improved system stability – In

some systems touchpanels and/or VTLP will periodically display “waiting For Sync”
and would require the primary control processor in the system be power cycled or
rebooted via Toolbelt to restore connectivity. The frequency of this problem has been
significantly reduced and should no longer occur in most cases.

Fixed Issue (originated in v1.00.0008) - Updating Firmware, order of

operations for controller groups – When updating controller firmware on a
running system configured with controller groups, the primary controller must be the
last device updated. Failing to follow this order of operations can result in the
secondary controllers losing status for serially controlled devices. This issue may also
occur in the event that a secondary controller is power cycled independently of the
primary controller. Solution: Power cycling the primary controller will restore the
lost status for serially controlled devices. This issue has been resolved.
