How does Learning

Learning takes place
through interaction with
other human beings.
How can a person
ensure success in
language learning?
In order to ensure success
in language learning, a
person should focus on
mastering the basics of
grammar and vocabulary.

2
What is the optimal
interrelationship of cognitive,
3 effective, and physical domains
for successful language learning?
The cognitive domain involves the learning
and application of knowledge. The effective
domain addresses the acquisition of
attitudes and values. The psychomotor
domain involves development of the body
and skills it performs.
What are the effects of 4
the varying
methodological
approaches, textbooks,
materials, teachers,
styles, and institutional
factors?
Methodological Approach in Language
Teaching
Grammar-translation method- emphasizes the teaching
of the second language grammar, its principal technique
is the translation from and into the target language.
The direct method is a shift from literary language to the
spoken everyday language as the object of early
instruction.

activities that involve real communication and carry out
meaningful tasks.
The audio-lingual method- claim openly to be derived
from linguistics and psychology.
Textbook

According to Jack Richards, an Adjunct Professor at

SEAMEO RELC, textbook serves as the basis for much of
the language input learners receive and the language
practice that occurs in the classroom.
Materials

Richard’s (2001:251) commented that ‘instructional

materials generally serves as the basis of much of the
language input that learners receive and the language
practice that occurs in the classroom.’
Teacher styles

Tongson et al. (2018) proved that teaching styles can

make or break the learning process. Performance of
learners must be geared towards a learning environment
that is engaging, enjoyable and fruitful.
Institutional Factors

The study of Rind et al. (2017) conducted in Pakistan,

revealed that higher education in Pakistan is
conceptualized as a field in which different institutes play
their parts. The English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and
English for Specific Purposes (ESP) aim to promote
advanced English language skills among learners.
