1. T
Ratio: Osmosis is the diffusion of water (a solvent) across a selectively permeable
membrane, such as the cell membrane, from a region of higher water concentration to
one of lower water concentration.
2. F
Ratio: In hypotonic solution, there is a lesser amount of solutes outside the cell,
attracting the water movement from inside the cell to outside.
3. T
Ratio: In isotonic solution means the solutes in and out the cell are equal, not greater or
lesser, and no occurrence of water movement.
4. T
Ratio: In this solution there is greater concentration of solutes outside the cell
(extracellular fluid) thereby making the water move out of the cell membrane causing
the cell to shrink.
5. T
Ratio: No net water movement occurs, and the cell shape remains normal.
AL STRATEGY
“What is the role of (Adenosine Triphosphate) ATP in the movement of molecules in the
cell membrane?”
ATP is the main source of energy for most cellular processes. The removal of
phosphate group in ATP to from ADP release an energy which is used by the cell in
several metabolic process as well as the synthesis of macromolecules. ATP plays a
critical role in the transport of macromolecules into an out of the cell.
