The Child and Adolescent Learners and Learning Principles
ACTIVITY 4
Answer the following:
1. What are the five characteristics of human development from a life-span perspective
and their implications to child care, education and parenting?
Development is lifelong
Adults may assist children in shaping their well-being. They may also educate
them on what they learned when their children were the same age, and how they
outperform everyone. As adults and children, they may assist each other grow
their entire selves by exchanging ideas and engaging in give-and-take
partnerships.
Development is plastic
Development, like plastic, is long-term and flexible, allowing them to adapt more
quickly. Parents must alter how they raise their children. Every child is unique,
and as a result, they develop the changes they do. When they learn correct care,
they practice it every day so that both of them may further improve it so that the
next time they take care of the baby, the parents already know what to do.
Development is multidimensional
Development does not happen overnight. It has a purpose or may be impacted
by friends, watching movies, reading books, or hearing stories, and remembering
that maturing takes time. When a youngster is with someone at home or at
school, his or her knowledge, thinking, viewpoints, and interactions with others
develop.
Development is contextual
Development in child care and parenting is influenced by the environment in
which you live, grow, and are trained. Individuals might develop in areas where
they are accustomed to living since their environment has a significant influence.
They will realize one day that the globe is far larger than they previously
imagined. People will be able to utilize it as well, gradually developing and
achieving how the real world revolves.
Development involves growth, maintenance, and regulation
Development is a step-by-step procedure. As we become older, we get more
information and always practice so that we don't forget. Just as in school, when
we start our first lesson as children, we are taught to read, which we take with us
till we are adults. People keep up with this growing body of information.
