• Captain Janeway is seated in her captain’s chair, looking intently at the
viewscreen. Tuvok, Chakotay, and Seven of Nine are also on the bridge.

• JANEWAY
• Status report.
•
• TUVOX
• All systems are functioning normally, Captain.
•
• CHAKOTAY
• We’re still on course for our next destination.
•
• SEVEN OF NINE
• However, I have detected an anomaly on our long-range sensors. It appears
to be a spatial rift.
•
• JANEWAY
• Red alert. Tuvok, plot a course to take us closer to the rift.
•
• TUVOX
• Aye, Captain.
•
• The ship begins to move closer to the rift. Suddenly, the ship shakes
violently.
•
• JANEWAY
• Report!
•
• TUVOX
• We’ve been hit by an energy surge from the rift. Shields are down to 50%.
•
• CHAKOTAY
• Captain, I’m picking up an energy signature coming from the rift. It appears
to be some kind of transmission.
•
• JANEWAY
• On screen.
•
• The viewscreen changes to show a strange alien language.
•
• JANEWAY
• Can we translate it?
•
• SEVEN OF NINE
• I am attempting to decode the language now.
•
• Suddenly, the ship is hit again by another energy surge.
•
• TUVOX
• Shields down to 20%.
•
• CHAKOTAY
• Captain, the transmission is getting stronger. It’s trying to communicate with
us.
•
• JANEWAY
• Open a channel.
•
• The viewscreen changes to show a strange alien creature.
•
• ALIEN
• (in an unintelligible language)
•
• JANEWAY
• Can you understand me?
•
• ALIEN
• (in an unintelligible language)

• SEVEN OF NINE
• Captain, I have successfully decoded the language. The alien is asking for our
help. Their planet is in danger and they need our assistance.
•
• JANEWAY
• We’ll do everything we can to help. Tuvok, set a course for the planet.
•
• TUVOX
• Aye, Captain.
•
• The ship moves towards the planet, navigating through the spatial rift. As
they approach the planet, they see that it is in the midst of a catastrophic
event – massive earthquakes and volcanic eruptions are tearing the planet
apart.
•
• JANEWAY
• Bridge to engineering, prepare to beam down a team to the planet’s surface.
•
• ENGINEER
• Aye, Captain.
•
• The away team, consisting of Janeway, Chakotay, Seven of Nine, and a few
other crew members, beams down to the planet. They quickly realize that
the alien language is much more complex than they initially thought, and
they struggle to communicate with the local inhabitants.
•
• As they work to help the planet, they encounter numerous challenges – from
lava flows to collapsing buildings. But with perseverance and a bit of luck,
they are eventually able to stabilize the planet’s core and prevent a
catastrophic explosion.
•
• Back on the ship, Janeway is reflecting on the experience.
•
• JANEWAY
• It’s amazing how sometimes the biggest challenges we face are simply a
matter of understanding each other.
•
• The camera pulls back to show the ship moving away from the planet,
disappearing into the depths of space.
•
