Values-Based Leadership Philosophy

1. I believe that the number one value is inclusiveness.

2. Inclusiveness is extremely important to me. Inclusiveness to me means that you treat everyone
equally and respect them for who they are. It means you are able to be considerate towards
different people by listening to their thoughts and feelings no matter if you agree or disagree.
Everyone should have a chance to say what they think and not be judged for it.
3. This value is important as a leader because to lead successfully and gain trust from other people
you are leading, you must listen to them. You should be respectful and listen to what others
have to say. Their ideas can revolutionize what ever movement or business or organization you
are in. Also, it is an important value to have when in the workplace as many people will look up
to you. Bosses and interviewers look for this value as collaboration is extremely important.
4. My mom has always demonstrated this value. She is always considerate and listens to what
other people have to say. She never argues or gets mad if they have a different viewpoint than
her. She is also a teacher and greatly welcomes them into the community by helping them with
recommendations, advice, or connections. Also, I would say she definitely demonstrated
inclusiveness when she adopted me and brought me into the family.
5. I think as someone who has been brought into another family, I have learned that being
inclusive is extremely important. I try to be inclusive to other people by actively listening and
being there whenever someone needs to talk to someone. I try to show it through my actions
rather than just saying it.
6. As important as my number one value is to me, sometimes it doesn’t show up in my leadership
because I may have biases. Sometimes someone may have a different belief than me that I don’t
agree with and it is easy to just stay away from them or not listen to them. However, as
someone who wants to be a leader, I need to admit my mistake and be willing to change my
thoughts and ideas.
