Social studies are an integrated study of people, society, and history. It covers
the how and why societies are found and how what we know as a people emerges. It
encourages children to think of the world at large i.e., the many places’ humans live in
the world. It is important because through its students begin to open their minds to
the different cultures in the world and can make comparisons between their culture
and the cultures of others. It promotes an acceptance of who other people are and also
an acceptance of the differences in cultural practices. Students learn to view the world
from different lenses and in that, way expand their worldview.
Upon watching the video provided, I have acquired a lot of information with
regard to Social Science. Indeed, this subject matter covers a wide range of topics. In
this regard, what is its importance to all and sundry, and what was the video all
about? After contemplating the video, I learned a bunch of things concerning 'Social
Science. ‘Along with that, I have also learned a lot of useful things that can be applied
in our daily life. On top of that, through the video, I was enlightened about what Social
Science is, as well as the significance of this matter to humanity and society. I
fully realize that Social Sciences are branches of study that analyze society and
the social interactions of people within a society. Subjects that fall under the umbrella
of social sciences are anthropology, history, economics, geography, and many others
that explore societal relations. Aside from that, I have learned that the Social Sciences
exist to make the world a better place. By discussing them, we are able to view world
problems from the viewpoints of others and articulate the positive and negative
aspects of our culture and society. This affords us an opportunity to make the world a
better place that past generations could never have envisioned. Furthermore, by
understanding humans and social structures, we are adequately equipped with
precise information about how to change and control human behavior, build better,
more progressive, and more functional social structures; as well as improve the
interactions and relationships among individuals. In a nutshell, through the video, I
realize the enormous importance of Social Science to the world as well as to mankind.
Therefore, we, as human beings, must study and apply the things that we learned
from this subject matter due to the fact that it creates better institutions and systems
that affect people's lives daily.
