Aside from the upcoming National Election that was about to happen, Marcos running for
presidency became controversial to many people. But that did not hinder his sure slot in the election
surpassing Leni Robredo and the other candidates. He became the presumptive president-elect of the
Philippines and it made thousands of people in and out of the country wonder why. Is there is something

“No to Historical Revisionism!,” was what they were screaming off over and over again. But
what is Historical Revisionism in the first place and should people hate it?
Historical Revisionism based on what I looked up through different search engines aims to

historical record which is very far from Historical Revisionism.
An example of Historical Denialism made by the so-called fanatics of the Marcos Regime was
the Nutribun. I have seen posts and articles scattered on different platforms glorifying how the Nutribun
fed hungry children’s and how Nutribun was related to the Marcoses. Hundred of those who are
interviewed in this generation were confident enough to say that the Nutribun was Marcos project but the
truth is it is United States Agency International Development or also known as USAID’s project. This
project aims to conquer the growing starvation and malnutrition the children had to face every day and yet
people glorifies it. The Marcos claims about this project was proven false and untrue based on the
evidences gathered.
The website for Bongbong Marcos and his achievements was proven misleading to. There are a
lot who countered and complained about the achievements written in the website. They are claiming it to
be his but to be frank it is other person’s credentials and not his. But still a lot of people fall for it and
sided with him.
Another Historical Denialism was calling almost all victims of Martial Law a communist, NPA
and anti-government. I had seen numbers of people insensitively mocking those who have suffered during
Martial Law instead of accepting the fact that the horrors about it are true. The Martial Law victims
gathered enough strength to join different campaigns and opened up about the scars their past. Their
experience goes on from having a simple life to being tortured to death. They are not communist nor an
NPA. They are just housewives, a father, a sister, a woman, a student, a teenager, they are someone who
seeks for a good life, grow old but ended up fighting for their lives.
Their stories were open to the public and can be accesses using Youtube or through News
platforms. Their stories belonged to those I cannot and will never read again because of how traumatic it
was. I have read tons of mystery, suspense, thrillers and horror novels, watched gore films and short
animations but theirs only made me frightened. Is it because the history can be repeated again?
Most of the people who supported this administration glorified the Martial Law and hopes to
experience. They said that Martial Law was good others were just faking the bad experience they get
from the past. Well Martial Law did good to the country’s economy but did frightening and stomach
turning experiences to people who have witnessed, experienced, killed, tortured and died. It will never be
a good example of good governance.
As a student who did not experienced the history but can sympathize and empathize I am in favor
of historical revisionism for I know that the truth is within us. Adding up evidences to the past and
creating a much more stronger and clear interpretation is needed. The history will not betray us. We are
the key to strengthen and create a valid and justifiable picture of the history. A history that once we
looked up through we can easily distinguish if it belonged to the good side or the latter. Historical
Revisionism can also serve as an eye opener to those who believed on the hear says and ignore the facts. I
believe that Historical Revisionism is in the side of the victims and only stands for the truth so why
should we afraid of? It segregates facts and disinformation. It caters the valid and crumpled up those who
are not. It is not in favor of changing the history and will never be. Historical Revisionism is different
from Denialism.
 As a Filipino I like to show my dismay to my co-Filipinos who believed on the falsified articles,
who mocked the victims, who became insensitive and those who supported the oppressors. I guess this
election made half of the population a victim of misleading articles, disinformation and fake news. We
did not do our research well thus we are craving for a good governance, a good country, a better history, a
better life, a better education, a better future not just for ourselves but to our family and to the next
generations. We’ve been through online fights and family fights because of the candidate we supported
and it instills different stress to us, emotional and physical stress. We fought for what we think is right
and that’s matters the most. We are all proud of for fighting and pushing through our limits. We made
sure that our moral principles will always be on the line and I found this thing adorable and
heartwarming. And now the fight has just started and none of know what will happen for the next 6 terms.
But we sure do hope that the history will not repeat itself. We’ve gone through a lot this pandemic, we
suffered and endured, we experienced a lot of unexpected and going back to the past is none of our wish.
Aside from us being healthy and slowly rising up from the scars of Corona Virus 2019, let us also
feed ourselves facts, valid researches, different news articles for us to be not swayed easily from a simple
hear say. We should normalize fact checking, accept criticism and be educated enough to not be fooled by
simple flowery words, smile and promises. We are on the year 2022 where a lot of resources can be found

claims we saw or heard was a fact or not. It is important for us too, to have a healthy mind and a good
moral principle. It is as important as the rice we eat every meals, the fruits and vegetables we love and the

of. Being someone who can retell or sight something from the past with validity is something we should
be good at. Not at spreading fake news, rumors, misleading information’s and hear say’s that does not
stand a thing.

those who had suffered and still continues to suffer.
