 ★ Urban tribes are groups with common interests and preferences. The
members of these micro groups have similar worldviews, dress styles
and behavioral patterns. They listen to the same music, they share the
same ideology, and they talk in the same way.

➢ GOTHS: They wear black clothes and make up; they also use antique
decoration based on the Victorian era or previous eras. Goth fashion is
sometimes confused with heavy metal or emo fashion. The major music
inspirations are English bands (post-punk music.)
➢ PUNKS: They wear black, red or white clothes. They often wear leather
and jackets or printed t-shirts. Some of the jewellery they use are pins
and spiked bands. Punks listen to the so called “garage rock” with band
originated during the punk movement in the UK (1960-1970.)
➢ HIPPIES: They wear baggy and colourful clothes, and sandals. They
listen to psychedelic music. Hippies were originally a youth movement
that began in the United Stated.
➢ LOLITA: They wear dresses, corsets, petticoats or crinolines. Lolita
fashion is distinctive of being cute and adorable. Lolita is a sub-culture
from Japan that is highly influenced by Victorian clothing and styles from
the Rococo period. There are a lot of substyles such as “Sailor Lolita,”
“Gothic Lolita,” for exaple. They usually listen to visual-kei music or
japanese pop.
➢ COTTAGECORE: They wear traditional clothes, floral dresses, corsets
and straw sun hats. They listen to a lot of different music genres, either
pop, rock, classical, and so on. Cottagecore is a fashion aesthetic
popularized during the pandemic (Covid-19) and it idealized rural life,
freedom and non-capitalism life based on the traditional countryside
lifestyle.
