Task 1: Prepare a Venn diagram showing the relationship or interconnection and the difference of nationalism and
development. How do these characteristics, indicators or factors influence our current Philippine education?

Most of us define nationalism as patriotism. Love of country, loyalty, and so on.  Nationalism is being
taught in schools, practiced in our daily lives to a shallow aspect. On the other hand, development is about a
process, growth, and making sure that the quality is getting better and better.

Nationalism and Development can still go hand-in-hand. Nationalism also emphasizes one’s identity in
his/her country. When we combine it altogether, we can hold on to our national identity by upgrading it.
Nationalism and Development can change the lives of other people and the future. From the traditional one,
nationalism is about following the rules and regulations, remembering national celebrations, and showing
support to all of the events that include our country- globally or internationally. As the world changes, we can
interrelate nationalism and development. For how many years, the country has experienced different societal
issues that are still unsolved as of the moment. And with that, we can manifest nationalism by making sure that
we are being part of those people who want to decrease and provide solutions for our country. It will take time,
of course- but we must remember our goal and our reason why we wanted to change. Nationalism and
Development can contribute a lot in society. AMBISYON NATIN 2040 is one example of nationalism and
development. As we practice to be devoted to our country, let us not forget the fact that we must proceed and
have a better quality of living and that can be shown through eliminating some societal issues existing.

It might be difficult at first, but remember that small actions create a huge impact. We must not be left
behind, but rather let us aim to be globally competitive and maintain nationalism and development because the
only certainty in this world is change.
