“Change is inevitable. Growth is optional.

” This is the appropriate quote that would describe my life over

the past years. Our experiences will help us to choose whether we need to change something or stay
from our comfort zone.

Good day, Professor Arcilla and to all of my classmates. I am Kimberly Aviso and I would like to share
with you my reflection about my influences on Ethical Behavior and Practice.

I grew up in a religious family. The family who goes to church every Sunday, having parents who would
always impart words of God to their children. Growing up, I would always hear about the good and the
bad. It was established to me what are the things I must do and the things I must avoid. My parents
wanted to raise children who can be a good example to the society. I would always try my best to aim
for that because I also believe it would benefit me. Family and church were the main influence I have
when I was a kid. When I entered schooling, I also learned some values that I didn’t learn at home. I
joined some activities at school that helped me discover more my potential. Through them, I was also
able to meet different people with different values and ethics. From that moment, I am starting to teach
myself how important it is to understand different beliefs without arguing.

If there was a moment in my life where I learned a lot, that was my Senior High School journey. I am
truly thankful because God gave me wonderful friends, and a sense of belongingness. Those people
never let me feel that I am different. I learned a lot from my friends. Despite of our differences from our
beliefs, I was able to become more open-minded and understandable. Through them, I was able not to
compare my beliefs and values with others because I was able to understand that people comes from
different cultures. It is true that “experience is the best teacher.” Those experiences I had let me decide
to grow. A growth that was truly unexpected. Even though pandemic came, I am still thankful because I
was able to reflect for myself. The community I have let me encourage to see what is the reality. These
influences helped me to mold my identity. Upon observing, I saw I came out from my comfort zone. I
can see some progress that I have. Despite of the fact that I am far from my ideal self, I am glad because
I was able to overcome those toxic traits I have, and I was able to develop more myself.

I am also grateful for those people I was able to socialize. Through them, I would always get something
important that I can apply in my daily living. Right now, I am more eager to change for growth because
life is full of surprises. I am willing to see how far I can run as I live. Experiences led me here. I want to
make sure that I would surround myself with people who are good influence. I want to be surrounded
by people that would mold me to become better.

It is true that we create our own destiny. That is the reason why it is challenging to build our own
personality. We create the values and ethics we have. There will be circumstances that we will meet
people whose values and ethical principles are different from what we believe in, but always remember
that people would always aim for one reason: to do what is needed, to be good and to be the better
version of themselves.

I hope that after listening to this, you are motivated and you got something that will also inspire you to
become the best version of yourself. Once again, I am Kimberly Aviso from OBTEC 1-4. Keep safe, stay
healthy and enjoy the rest of the day. God bless everyone!
