CLIM Module Programming Guide

The CLIM input settings include four thresholds which may be individually set to allow for two high
current situations (Threshold 1 & 2) & two low current situations (Threshold 3 & 4).
Each threshold can trigger an individual event as shown below in figure 1, see the drop down box.
The normal current of the device being monitored should be between thresholds 2 & 3.
These two thresholds are for a first indication. Threshold 1 & 4 are the second indication, which are
typically treated with greater importance.

Figure 1

1
In the example shown below, the CLIM input will be normal when the current output of the monitored
device is between thresholds 2 & 3. Since thresholds 1 & 2 are identical, as are thresholds 3 & 4, there is
no differentiation between them in terms of the panel’s response. If required all four thresholds may be
set differently.

If the monitored device’s current output reaches 16mA then the CLIM would activate an alarm. If the
monitored device’s current output reaches 12mA then the CLIM would activate a Pre-Alarm condition.

Figure 2

The normal current monitoring ‘window’ is between 12mA and 16mA.

If the monitored current drops to 12mA or below the CLIM will generate a Pre-Alarm.
If the monitored current reaches 16mA or above the CLIM will generate a Fire event.
