Chemical Equations

6CO2+ 6H2O C6H12O6 + 6O2

This is the chemical equation for photosynthesis!!!

 Large numbers represent how many molecules are there

 Small numbers tell how many atoms are in each molecule

o NOTE: if there is no number then it is 1

CO2 (carbon dioxide) and 6 molecules of

Plants (producers) take in 6 molecules of
H2O (water) and in the presence of sunlight produces 1 molecule of C6H12O6
(glucose, or sugar) and 6 molecules of O2 (oxygen). {Thanks plants.}

This equation is balanced because there is the same number of each atom on each
side of the reaction sign (→). Prove it below:

6CO2+ 6H2O C6H12O6 + 6O2

# H= ____12____ # H= ____12____

# O= ____18____ # O= ____18____

# C= ____6_____ # C= _____6____

Reactants → Products
Reactants react to make products.

The reactants in photosynthesis are Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and Water (H2O).

The products in photosynthesis are Glucose (C6H12O6) and Oxygen (O2).
