Communication Planning specializes in research, program planning, and program

development. Aside from possessing the required technical skills, communication

planners must possess qualities namely being selfless, compassionate, patient, and

humble. Having interviewed people in our chosen community, I realised that apart

from properly analysing the situation of the community, understanding the

communication plan’s objectives, understanding the audience, and etc., it’s also

important to be a good listener and a compassionate communicator. I’ve noticed that

some participants don’t fully understand the question based on their answers.

Hence, it’s crucial that the person in charge of gathering data is a good listener in

order to redirect the interviewee to properly answer the question. Being a

compassionate communicator plays an important role in being able to effectively

serve a chosen community as communication planning is more than a project that

needs to be done—it’s a project that touches the heart of both communication

specialists and its beneficiary community as it seeks ways to meet needs and

change the lives of individuals and families in the community. Communication

planning is a project that requires communication planners to prioritize others before

themselves as the project is all about alleviating the situation of the community.
