Portfolio Assignment (PA7): Skills Inventory – Hard & Soft Skills

How would you describe and assess your abilities that you will bring to your

professional life?

As I work on my professional skills, I have been able to develop a better

understanding of the working world and become an active participant in shaping policies,

programs and cultural practices that can be used by other professionals to assist with the care

of people. I am a good communicator which helps me to build rapport with my clients. I feel

that I have a strong interest and academic ability with regards to Human Service. I will be

able to assist individuals in meeting the needs of their family, developing relationships with

people from diverse backgrounds, and maintaining professional network relations with

various organizations.

I have an understanding of the needs of the community and I am determined to do

what is needed to help improve the lives of others. I can identify family strengths and

weaknesses, bringing attention to these areas can lead to better relationships. I am able plan

ahead and think things through to create effective strategies. I have the ability to understand

their struggles and the way they feel about themselves, recognize patterns, and provide

effective problem solving for their situation. I can spark an innovative spirit within others,

build resilient goals and plans for them, and guide them through the journey from crisis to

recovery.

What are the abilities that you will continue to work on after you leave Metro State?

I will continue to work on my interpersonal communication skills in order to better

interact with clients and colleagues. I will also work on strengthening my public speaking and

presentation skills, as well as my ability to problem solve, and make informed decisions.

Additionally, I plan on furthering my research skills through completing more community

service projects and working toward a master's degree in human services. Therefore, I will
