Fore word

This British Standard has been prepared by Technical Committee AUE/9. It

establishes a level of performance for elasticated straps with end attachments
and attempts to minimize the risk of inj ury when used.

It is however acknowledged that these elasticated straps are not designed for use
by children and should be clearly labelled to this effect.

The strength requirement proposed has been deduced by evaluating published

anthropometric data and arriving at a compromise between the maximum pull
strength and repeated pull strengths.

It is accepted that elasticated straps are only suited for retaining light loads
which have little or no wind resistance and not for any safety critical use.

A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a
contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application.

conformity which may also be desirable.
