This project demonstrates a simple home automation system that allows the user to
control it with a wireless device such as a Wi-Fi or Bluetooth enabled mobile
phone. A desktop PC is used to run the server software. The system allows the user
to control each of the lights and fans individually. It can automatically turn off the
main lights and turn on a night lamp at a specified time. By measuring the signal
strength, it can detect when the user enters a room and automatically turn on the
light and fans, and then automatically turn them off when the user leaves the room.
PROBLEM STATEMENT & FEASIBILITY STUDY
PROBLEM STATEMENT
The field of Automation has advanced in Industries, as the majority of automobile industry
plants as well as bottling plants have Automated assembly lines. But automation has not yet
penetrated in the homes especially in India.
If automation was to be used in homes, then everyday life would be eased. Simple examples of
the use of automation in the home can be seen in the transfer of water from the under-ground
water tank to the over-head water tank, by sensing the level of water in both the tanks. This
process eases every time effort the user has to put in for filling the tank and also helps in saving
water. Also, people are getting more acquainted daily with the use of Smartphone and tablets
which are capable of doing much of PC’s work handy. So, we have decided to make a low-cost
Embedded System in which smart phones can be used to help automate entire homes. In this
system the user will have remote access and control over all the subsystems present in the house
