“ Help! Help !” I screamed at the top of my voice as the red, orange flames
engulfed my room. The fire licked the curtains like a hungry lion. The
scorching heat from the fire singed the hair on my head. Thoughts of me
being burnt to death encircled my mind. As the flames raged , thick, grey,
clouds of smoke spiraled into the atmosphere. The flames danced around
the room as they made loud crackling sounds, scaring the wits out of
me. “Please, help me God !” I prayed.

• You noticed the neighbours forming a bucket brigade
• They tried to extinguished the fire
• In the distance, the sound of sirens pierced the night sky like a knife
through butter
• The firemen battled the blaze
• Just when I was about to give up hope a fireman burst through the
flame and entered the charred room
• He lifted the object off my leg and carried me outside.
