Bullies and their victims frequently share similar characteristics, particularly low self-esteem.

Negative
occurrences in a child's life can lead to low self-esteem. Children internalize their thoughts by refusing
to speak about them. Instead, they become discouraged and see themselves as failures. Children who
possess high self-esteem don’t respond negatively to bullies because they acknowledge that, negative
personal statements made are untrue and undeserving of attention. The bully's aim is to make their
victims experience fear, anger, and sadness. Words and physical reactions can be emotionally damaging,
and neglecting the bully is never a good idea. It is very easy to sympathize with a victim of bullying.
However, it would be more beneficial to the victim if we attempted to empower them in order to
overcome the bullying.
