fireworks lit up skies across the world, news reached the World Health Organization about an outbreak of pneumonia in Wuhan, China, the cause of which was unknown.
In the two years that followed, where more than
five million people have lost their lives to the virus; we have yet to see light at the end of this dark tunnel. We are still in the midst of a tsunami of Covid infections. Metro Manila is now at critical risk for Covid-19 transmissions and pre-emptive measures are being adopted by our government to forestall and address the perceived adverse impact of the highly-transmissible Omicron variant.
Amid the unabated rise in new Covid infections
on a daily basis, it was indeed timely to have no less than our esteemed guest speaker to enlighten all of us on the hard facts regarding this latest variant. Apart from his edifying treatise on the subject, he has inspired us to approach this contagion with a pragmatic eye. His inimitable wit, medical acumen, and effervescent disposition which only a true Rotarian could deliver, has certainly given us a much better appreciation and hope in ultimately controlling the spread of this deadly virus.
We have certainly been enlightened with your
fantastic presentation and your illuminating discourse.
