Mechanical Drawing Option
Question 5: Assembly Drawing

The drawing below shows the first angle orthographic projection details of the parts that make up
a lever assembly. In assembly, the spindle (2) is inserted into the lever (1) from the bottom. The
collar (4) is then fitted over the exposed end of the spindle and seated on the unthreaded portion
of the spindle. The spindle is then secured in place with the taper pin (5) which passes through
the collar and the spindle. The M16 bold (3) is then screwed onto threaded portion of the spindle
to secure the assembled parts.

(A) Draw, FULL SIZE, in either first angle or third angle orthographic projection, the
following views of the assembly:
i) A plan. Show all hidden details.
ii) A full sectional front elevation on cutting plane A-A.
(B) Show SIX main dimension to include a length, a diameter, a radius and a metric screw
thread specification.
(C) Print the title “Lever Assembly”, and the scale used. Show the projection method used by
symbol.

Question 6: Simple house plan

Your company has decided to answer a call from your former high school teacher, Mr. Edward,
requesting a design proposal for a dwelling unit. The proposal design should feature the use of
inexpensive, locally available building materials and should incorporate consideration of
Caribbean lifestyle and climate condition. The proposal structure should comfortably
accommodate a family of 3 members.
