64 31 010 Replacing microfilter for interior ventilation

Damage to the heating and air conditioning system.


Use of unapproved microfilters may cause impairment of functions in the air
conditioning.
Only operate the heating and air conditioning system with the specified microfilter.

PRELIMINARY WORK

1 – Removing the instrument panel trim at bottom right


Loosen nuts (1).
Lower the instrument panel trim slightly at the
bottom right (2) and disconnect the plug connection
behind it.
Guide the instrument panel trim at the bottom right
(2) from the front guides and remove it.

2 – Removing side trim panel for the centre console on the right side
Loosen screw (1).
Release the side trim panel for centre console (2)
from retaining clips (3).
Remove the side trim panel for centre console (2)
from guides (4) and remove it.

MAIN WORK

3 – Remove microfilter for passenger compartment ventilation

Unlock the lock (1).


Open flap (2).

Remove the upper microfilter (1) from the heating


and air-conditioning unit (2) in direction of arrow.

Remove the lower microfilter (1) from the heating


and air-conditioning unit (2) in direction of arrow.

4 – Installing the microfilter for the interior ventilation


Install the lower microfilter (1) in the heating and air-
conditioning unit (2) in direction of arrow.
Note: Pay attention to the direction of installation of
the lower microfilter (1).

Install the upper microfilter (1) in the heating and air-


conditioning unit (2) in direction of arrow.
Note: Pay attention to the direction of installation of
the upper microfilter (1) in the marked area.

Close flap (2).


Lock the lock (1).

POSTPROCESSES

5 – Installing side trim panel for the right centre console

Latch mechanisms, guides and mounting elements must not be damaged or missing.

Install the side trim panel for the centre console (2)
and feed it into the guides (4).
Engage the side trim panel for the centre console (2)
into retaining clips (3).
Tighten down screw (1).
Trim to centre console
Oval- Tightening 1,8 Nm
head torque
screw

6 – Installing the botto right instrument panel trim

Latch mechanisms, guides and mounting elements must not be damaged or missing.

Install the lower right instrument panel trim (2) and


connect and lock the plug connection.
Insert the lower right instrument panel trim (2) into
the front guides.
Tighten nuts (1).
Bottom left footwell trim to instrument panel
M5 Tightening 2 Nm
hexagon torque
nut
