General information

PRELIMINARY WORK

1–Remove front door trim panel


• Pull out pin (1).

• Do not unclip the trim (2).

The trim (2) is loosened upon unclipping the door trim panel
from the door opener (3).

• Loosen the door trim panel (1) using special tool


0 490 534 (00 9 317) from clips (2).

• Set down door trim panel with trim (3).

2–Remove front door window glass


• Open door window glass (1) up to dimension (A).

• Measurement (A):

A = approx. 75 mm
 Disconnecting the battery earth lead
Prerequisite
Ignition is switched off.

RISK OF DAMAGE

Damage to battery terminal, the safety battery terminal or the intelligent battery sensor (IBS).
Damaged battery terminals can lead to malfunctions or vehicle electrical system faults.
• Pull off battery terminal from battery pole by carefully moving to and fro. Do not pry off using a tool.

• Open the cover (1).

• Equipment specification without intelligent battery sensor


(IBS):

Slacken nut (1).

Remove the battery earth lead (2) and secure to one side.

• Equipment specification with intelligent battery sensor


(IBS):

Slacken nut (1).

Remove the battery earth lead (2) and secure to one side.

• Lift out protective caps (1).

• Loosen the screws (2) below until it is possible to remove the


door window glass (3) from the power window regulator.

• Loosen the door window glass (3) from the power window and
remove towards the top.

3–Removing the armrest on the front door trim panel


• Lever out the armrest (1) from the door handle (2) at the top and
bottom in the direction of the arrow.

4–Remove the door trim panel support


• Disconnect plug connection (1).
• Remove the weather strip from the door at the front (1) and rear
(2).

• Loosen the screws (3) and remove the holder (4).

• Loosen the nut (1) and remove the retaining plate below.

• Loosen screws (2) (3) and (4).

• Loosen the support (5) from the door and slightly pull it
upwards.

• Detach the holder for the Bowden cable (1) in the direction of
the arrow.

• Completely remove the door trim panel support from the door.
MAIN WORK

5–Removing the power window in the front door


• Press down the latch mechanisms (1) and remove the power
window regulator (2) from the support (3).

• Loosen the Bowden cable (1) from the support.

• Loosen screws (2).

• Remove the power window regulator (5) including retaining


plate (3) and holder (4) from the support in the direction of the
arrow.

6–Installing the power window in the front door


• Insert the power window regulator (5) including retaining plate
(3) and holder (4) into the support in the direction of the arrow.

• Tighten down screws (2).

• Install the Bowden cable (1) on the support.

• Insert the power window regulator (2) in the support (3) and
engage with the latch mechanisms (1).
POSTPROCESSES

7–Install the door trim panel support


• Check the door seal (1) around the outline for damage.

• Note for US national-market version:

Crash pad (2) must be installed.

• Completely insert the door trim panel support into the door.

• Attach the holder (1) for the Bowden cable (2) in the direction of
the arrow.

• Slightly pull the door trim panel support (5) upwards.

• Tighten the screws (2), (3) and (4).

Carrier, door trim panel, to door

Nut 10 Nm

Screw 8 Nm

• Install the retaining plate and tighten the nut (1).

• Install the holder (4) and tighten the screw (3).

• Insert the weather strip into the door at the front (1) and rear (2).
• Connect plug connections (1).

8–Installing front door window glass


• Insert the door window glass (3) from the top and insert it into
the power window.

• Tighten down screws (2).

• Remove the protective caps (1).

(IBS):

Position the battery earth lead (2) on the battery terminal.

Tighten nut (1).

(IBS):

Position the battery earth lead (2) on the battery terminal.

Tighten nut (1).

• Close the cover (1).


9–Adjusting the front door window glass

Prerequisite
The front door must have been adjusted correctly and the motor vehicle must be positioned on the ground.

• Ideal adjustment, retraction depth:

Open door, attach special tool 0 492 634 (51 3 080) on door
window glass and close door.

Measure retraction depth at positions (1 to 3).

must be visibly positioned on the door window glass.

** Gasket must be visibly positioned on door window glass.

• Adjusting retraction depth:

Remove outer weather strip.

Tape off door in working area of special


tool 0 494 251 (51 3 240).

Insert special tool 0 494 251 (51 3 240) between the fixtures (1)
and position it on the nut (2) positioned in between.

Loosen the nut (2) using special tool 0 494 251 (51 3 240) until
it is possible to move the door window glass.

Attach suction lifter to door window glass.

Adjust door window glass.

Check setting, repeat process if necessary.


Door window glass washer

5 Nm

• Initialise power window.

10–Installing the armrest on the front door trim panel

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Latch mechanisms, guides and mounting elements must


not be damaged or missing.

• Engage the armrest (1) in the door handle (2) at the top and
bottom in the direction of the arrow.

11–Installing front door trim panel


• Check latch mechanisms (1) on trim (2) for damage and replace
if necessary.

• Make sure all clips are correctly installed on the door trim panel
(2).

Clips (1) are white, all other clips are grey.

• Replace faulty clips (2).

• Clip in the door trim panel (1) at the clips (2) in the highlighted
area.

• Position trim (3) in the door trim panel (1).


• Engage trim (2) in door opener (3).

• Insert pin (1).
