Day 4 Assignment

As the information technology is advanced more and more, the curriculum designers have
prioritized teaching IT subject as a vital role in both secondary and primary school. Despite such
preferences in IT subject, there has been a few negative impacts on students’ lives with the loss
of basic skills. Hence, I partially disagree with the idea of training students for IT skill in their
young ages for the reasons I will discuss in this essay.

On one hand, although IT skills are thought to be necessary part for youngsters, in actual fact,
other primary skills such as literacy skills, interpersonal skills, moral life lessons are far more
important than digital skills for learners. With the help of some life skills, youths can stand out
as more successful, highly-respected, and matured people in their future community. Having
said that, digital skills should not be ignored for the reason of not being a naive person when it
comes to digital literacy skills, which can open up their advanced learning styles with sheer
willpower.

Taking a few drawbacks of digital learning into consideration, on the other hand, very young
children can seriously suffer from eye-related health problems due to the emission of radiation
from technology gadgets. Moreover, nothing can cure the state of addiction to mobile devices
for young students and as a result of addiction to digital skills, their active involvement in
community works and classroom can be severely affected.

To conclude, in spite of being aware of potential hazards of technological involvement in

children’s lives, it is impossible that we can eliminate it from education. Thus, teachers and
parents should encourage their children to take advantage of digital skills effectively in their
education.
