Persuasive Essay Proposal

With this persuasive essay, I would like to discuss the topic of mental health on campus at

Cal Poly. I would like to write about this specific topic because mental health matters and it

holds a special place for me. I have gone through my own mental health struggles and been

through counseling. On campus, I understand there are many resources for students with mental

health problems and counseling services.

This issue is local due to the fact that it is represented at Cal poly Slo and a lot of students

use the resources. This is manageable because Many colleges and universities have counseling

centers that provide mental health support to students. These centers may offer individual

counseling, group counseling, and workshops on stress management, mindfulness, and other

topics. It's essential to make these services easily accessible and affordable for students. When

talking about mental health at college, the ethos should be one of understanding, empathy, and

respect for those who may be struggling with mental health issues. When discussing this topic,

the people that would be affected by it would be the students of Cal Poly and staff on campus

that provide these types of services.

The kind of research that I would rather do with this topic would be research sources

coming from the Cal Poly library as well as looking into the counseling and mental health

services provided by the health center on campus. Additionally, I would like to see what is
offered and if it has changed at all over time here at Cal Poly. I hope to gain information about

how accessible help is when needed by students and how it has affected students.
