Criminal Justice System

5 Pillars of Criminal Justice System

1. Law Enforcement Agency
 Law Enforcement. Maintain peace and order.
Prevents and investigates crimes and bring offenders
to justice. Exercise the vested powers from the Philippine
Constitution and pertinent laws.

2. Prosecution
 The role of the National Prosecution Service in the
Criminal Justice System is two-fold: (1) to investigate
allegations that a crime has been committed; and
(2) to prosecute all cases involving violations of
penal laws. It is a quasi-judicial organization expected to
deal with fair execution of laws.

3. Court
 The Court is the cornerstone of the system
wherein it determines whether the person charged
with a criminal offence is guilty or not. When the
courts of law find an individual guilty of violating
the law, a sentence shall be imposed upon him,
not to change the criminal’s attitude, but as a penalty.

4. Correction
 Corrections describes the punishment of offenders for
the crimes they have committed. Corrections does not
always mean punishment; in the United States they
expect their inmates to read the bible to reflect on their
wrongdoings.

5. Community
 Community justice is a public safety framework for
transforming high-crime, socially disadvantaged places
into neighborhoods fit for people to live, work and
raise families. It's often described as a philosophy, it
brings together social justice with criminal justice.
