➢ Reserve Bank of India (RBI) directed Urban Cooperative Banks (UCBs) belonging to tier 3 and tier
4 categories, except UCBs under All Inclusive Directions (AID), to create a Board-approved policy and
compliance function.
• Under this, UCBs with more than Rs 10,000 crore deposits (tier 4 category) mandated to create
same, including the appointment of a Chief Compliance Officer (CCO), by April 1, 2023 while
Tier 3 UCBs i.e. those having more than Rs 1,000 crore and up to Rs 10,000 crore deposits are
given the deadline of October 1, 2023.

⮚ Highlights of RBI’s 3rd Bi-monthly Monetary Policy of 2022-23, The Monetary Policy Committee
(MPC) raised the repo rate by 50 basis points to 5.40% from 4.90%.
● Credit Information Companies (CICs) brought under Reserve Bank Integrated Ombudsman
Scheme (RB-IOS) 2021 w.e.f. September 1, 2022.
● RBI also proposed to set up a committee to do an in-depth analysis of the current Mumbai
Interbank Outright Rate (MIBOR) benchmark issues.
● RBI will open the Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS),owned and operated by NPCI Bharat
BillPay Ltd. (NBBL), for Non-resident Indians (NRIs).

➢ RBI’s Digital Payments Index rises to 349.30 in March 2022
● The Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) composite Digital Payments Index (RBI-DPI) has risen to
349.30 in March 2022 against 270.59 in March 2021, recording 29% annual Growth at March
End 2022.
➢ RBI: Gives No Objection for HDFC Bank & HDFC Merger; DICGC Pays Eligible Depositors
● HDFC Bank received no objection letter from Reserve Bank of India (RBI) merging HDFC
(Housing Development finance Corporation) Ltd and HDFC Bank. BSE Limited and NSE
(National Stock Exchange) have also issued observation letters for the proposed merger.
● On 4th April 2022, the board of HDFC Bank agreed to take over HDFC with a deal value of
around USD 40 billion.
➢ RBI Cancels Licence of Shri Anand Co-operative Bank Due to Lack of Capital
➢ Razorpay, Pine Labs & Stripe Receives Payment Aggregator Gateway Licences from RBI
➢ RBI eases FPI, NRI Deposit Norms to Prevent Rupee slide, & boost Forex Inflows
● These include relaxation in foreign investment in debt, external commercial borrowings (ECBs),
and Non-Resident Indian (NRI) deposits.
● The measures are expected to further expand the sources of forex funding, mitigate volatility,
and decrease global spillovers.
● RBI has allowed banks temporarily to raise fresh Foreign Currency Non-Resident Bank i.e.,
FCNR(B) and Non-Resident External (NRE) deposits without reference to the current
regulations on interest rates w.e.f. July 7, 2022.
● This relaxation will be available till October 31, 2022.

● It enables WAAREE to obtain unsecured financing for solar projects through SBI’s Surya Shakti
Solar Finance Scheme and to provide working capital for its channel partners through the
Electronic Dealer Finance Scheme (EDFS).
➢ SBI Cards and Payment Services Limited (SBI Card) Launches Industry’s First CASHBACK SBI Card
● Consumers can apply for the card through the digital application platform “SBI Card
SPRINT” from anywhere in India, including Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
➢ State Bank of India (SBI) has joined the Rs 5.03 trillion market capitalization (market cap) for
the first time after its shares reached a record high of Rs 564.45 on the BSE index.
● HDFC Bank, India’s largest private sender lender holds 1st position with a market cap of Rs 8.38
trillion and ICICI Bank holds the 2nd position with a market cap of Rs 6.33 trillion.

➢ Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) extends the Deadline for introducing DDPI System
to September 1, 2022
❖ SEBI has extended the deadline for implementation of the guidelines, related to the Demat Debit
and Pledge Instruction (DDPI) for pledging and repledging of stocks for margin purposes, by 2
months, from its original date of July 01, 2022 to September 01, 2022.
➢ SEBI extends Deadline for Commencing KYC Record Validation by KRAs till Nov 1, 2022
❖ SEBI has extended the deadline for commencing the validation of all KYC (Know Your
Customer) records by KYC Registration Agencies (KRAs) by three months to November 1, 2022.
● This is for the 2nd time that SEBI has extended the deadline. Earlier, it was extended till
August 1, 2022 from July 1, 2022.

➢ HDFC ERGO General Insurance Partners with Google Cloud to Digitize Insurance Purchasing in
India.
➢ HDFC Life Insurance Company Limited (HDFC Life) has developed “Click2Protect Super”, a term
insurance policy.
➢ Insurance ombudsman disposed of 32% more complaints i.e. 40,527 complaints against insurance
firms in 2021-22 year-on-year across India as compared to 30,596 in 2020-21.
● 60% of the complaints resolved by ombudsman in 2021-22 were through conciliation and the
remaining through awards.
● 81% of the complaints were against private insurers and the rest against LIC (Life Insurance
Corporation of India) and PSU (Public Sector Undertaking) general insurers.
● There are at present 17 Insurance Ombudsman in different locations and any person who has a
grievance against an insurer may make a complaint to the ombudsman.
➢ Lord’s Mark Insurance Broking Services Private Limited has received the direct insurance broking
licence from Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) for selling life and

❖ According to Bloomberg, which has cited GDP figures from the International Monetary Fund
(IMF), India has overtaken the United Kingdom (UK) to become the fifth largest economy in the
world.

fifth-biggest economy. The calculation is based on US dollars.

● The Cabinet also approved a new Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) – PM SHRI Schools

● The scheme will be implemented with a total project cost of Rs. 27360 crore which
includes a central share of Rs. 18128 crore for the period of five years from year 2022-
23 to 2026-27.

❖ Cabinet approves Rs 1200cr scheme for disposal of pulsesto states/UTs under discounted
procured under discounted rate.
● The disposal will be done from the stock of pulses procured under Price Support
Scheme (PSS) and Price Stabilization Fund (PSF).
● It also approved the enhancement of the ceiling on quantity of procurement under PSS
from existing 25% to 40% in respect of Tur, Urad, and Masur.

➢ Prime Minister(PM) Narendra Modi participated in the ‘Udyami Bharat’ programme organised at the
Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, Delhi and launched various key initiatives to develop the Micro, Small &
Medium Enterprise (MSME) sector.
● FACTS- In FY22, India’s exports significantly increased to USD 422 billion from their previous
peak of USD 330 billion.
❖ PM Modi launched the “Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme”, with an
outlay of Rs 6,062.45-crore for MSMEs.
● The 5-year RAMP scheme will begin in the current financial year(FY) 2022-23.
● Out of the total outlay of the scheme, the World Bank approved Rs 3750 crore in June 2021. The
remaining Rs 2312.45 crore outlay would be funded by the government of India.
❖ ‘PM Modi also launched the ‘Capacity Building of First-Time MSME Exporters’ (CBFTE) scheme to
ease the export process for first-time exporters in terms of monetary support, certification-related
support, and others.
❖ New features of the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme – (PMEGP)
● An increase in the maximum project cost to Rs 50 lakhs (from Rs 25 lakhs) for the
manufacturing sector and Rs 20 lakhs (from Rs 10 lakhs) in the service sector
● There is no global tender that will be floated by the government or its agencies for the
procurement of goods and services if the value is less than Rs 200 crore.

● The selected incubate ideas from the Hackathon will get funding support of up to Rs 15 lakh per
approved idea.

attended the 2nd anniversary of the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), which is
implemented by the Department of Fisheries (DoF), MoFAHD.
● The scheme also envisions the creation of 68 lakh jobs by the end of 2024-25.
● Main Motto of PMMSY – ‘Reform, Perform and Transform’ in the fisheries sector
