C. Art elements or principles

Because art is produced by people and people are influenced by time, art is a continuing practice that has evolved with the following new elements
or principles:

a. Appropriation - when you see shirts with the image of Jose Rizal wearing shades or the walls of Intramuros in canvas bags, existing artworks are
"appropriated" to form another artwork. The use of these prints, images and icons to produce another art form is a feature of art that combines the
past with the present. By appropriation, the artist revives interest to existing forms of art. b. Performance of artist has evolved to "emphasize
spontaneous, unpredictable elements of chance" - Walker Art Center. Performance artists have tried to interpret various human activities from
ordinary activities such as chores, routines and rituals, to socially relevant themes such as poverty, commercialism and war.

D. What is contemporary art?

The J. Paul Getty Museum defines contemporary art as "art made and produced by artist living today", the art of the "now". These are the artworks
produced in the present. Today's artists work in and respond to a global environment that is culturally diverse, technologically advancing and
multifaceted. With this definition, you can picture the kind of art created by today's contemporary artists as art that has a world view and is sensitive
to the changing times. Contemporary art today is not restricted to the individual experience of the artist but is reflective of the world that we live in.
2. Decorative Arts

- Also known as decorative crafts – are artworks that are both aesthetically pleasing and functional. While the Fine arts are primarily
concerned with beauty and aesthetics, the decorative arts were not only beautiful but are useful as well. From the Renaissance up until the 20 th
century, many artists in the West consider the decorative arts as a lower version of art; makers of these artworks were not considered as artists but
rather as craftsmen. This attitude has gradually changed, though there are still some who believe in the outdated distinction.

A. Textile Art – are arts and crafts that uses plant, animal and synthetic fibers to construct practical or decorative objects. In the province (Basilan),
the most common are the Tennun (Yakan textile), Yakans’ pride.

B. Glassware – is the modern use of glass as an artistic medium to produce sculptures or three-dimensional artworks. Examples are glass vases, etc.

C. Jewelry – consist of small decorative items worn for personal adornment such as brooches, rings, necklace, earrings, pendants and bracelets.

D. Furniture – according to Richard Wright, “Furniture is being marketed as art, not antiques, so it’s on the topic with the way the contemporary
art world works”.
E. Creativity: Culinary arts is a creative field that requires chefs to use their imagination to develop unique and innovative dishes. Creativity is
essential in developing new recipes, experimenting with different flavor combinations, and presenting food in an aesthetically pleasing way.

Purpose

- Culinary School teaches students how to present mouthwatering entrees and desserts that look like artistic masterpiece. When students
learn the importance of plating, they put more attention and detail into the presentation which leads to newfound appreciation of food as an art form.

Importance

- Culinary arts is important as it provides us with the essential skills and knowledge to prepare, cook, and present food in a way that is not
only visually appealing but also delicious and nutritious. Through culinary arts, we can learn how to motivate people to eat healthy food by creating
meals that are not only appetizing but also beneficial to our health. With a focus on healthy ingredients and cooking techniques, culinary arts can
help us learn how to make healthier choices when it comes to our food. It teaches us what components to add to a dish to make it healthy, and how to
make it so. By mastering the art of cooking, we can take control of our diet and ultimately lead a healthier, more fulfilling life.
