ACKNOWLEDGMENT

Alhamdulillah, finally I manage to complete my task given by the lecturer on time. Thank you to my English language proficiency (ELP) lecturer Dr. Noraini binti Abdullah Sani. During the conversation with the lecturer from the language department that held in the classroom, I gave my full attentions and jot down some short notes related to the task given. So, its helps a lot in other for me to completing my short coursework about book report. Besides, I brave myself with some other students to come forward to ask the lecturer which I did not understand about this task. After the short talk and guide from her, I realized this task is not really hard to manage and be completed. Even the criteria of the report is about 350 words only, I still take note on the format stated on the paper. In the nutshell, I satisfied on finishing this assignment. Other than that, I also would like to thanks for those who has helped me either indirectly or directly. Wassalam.

THE COCONUT TREES This story is about Tong Chai who lived among some coconut trees by the sea with his wife and three sons. These trees were Tong Chais friends. He took their coconut and sells them. The trees were not Tong Chais. the trees were on a rich mans land. One morning, the rich man opened a letter. It was from a bank. The bank wanted money from the rich man. So, the rich man sold the rubber estate. Another rich man bought it. His name was Mr Alagan. One day he wanted to put up a big hotel. He wanted to cut down the trees and send Tong Chai away. But a lot of coconuts fell and hit the man. He had to stay in hospital for a long time. The man became afraid of the trees and he did not come back. Theme in this story is eco-friendly. In this story, Tong Chai was very close with environment such as the coconut trees. Tong Chai believe that when we friendly with environment, they also friendly with us. For example, Tong Chai always said to his sons. The trees cannot wave without the wind. But they are waving to me and to you. The trees know us. Sometimes the trees dropped coconuts for Tong Chai. The coconut trees were like Tong Chais friends. Other than that, greedy is also the theme in this story. Mr Alagan was very greedy person. Mr Alagan was not a bad man, but he liked money very much. He was rich, but he always wanted to be richer. The characters in this story are Tong Chai, the rich man and Mr Alagan. The main character is Tong Chai. Tong Chai lived by the sea with his wife and three sons. He did little work because he had a bad leg and could not walk well. Sometimes Tong Chai help the fishermen, but he did not go out in the boats. Tong Chais sons were too

young to work. Tong Chai had a monkey. It went up the trees and took coconuts for Tong Chai. (351 words)
