    • Diversity typically refers to number of species (richness) in a community.

    • However, a more accurate representation of biological importance takes into account number of
    individuals (evenness or abundance).

    Alpha: species level, diversity within a community

    Beta: community level, diversity among communities within landscape

    Gamma: landscape level, diversity among landscapes Omega: diversity within taxa, phylogenetic
