Call To Adventure
Beatrice Prior is a member of one of the five
factions, Abnegation, whose follow a philosophy
of selflessness, before her aptitude test, where she
is revealed to be divergent, meaning she does not
fit into just one faction, and when it is time to
choose, she chooses Dauntless, the brave faction,
and she changes her name to Tris
Mentor/Helper
When Tris is going through dauntless initiation,
she meets the man named Four, who trains her for
membership in the faction and tries his best to
protect her from the other initiation instructor,
Eric, who dislikes her.
Tests/Tasks Reward
During her initiation into Dauntless, Tris faces
many tasks, such as having to go through her “Fear
Landscape”, which is a simulated environment
featuring her worst fears, which she only has six
of, unlike the normal ten to fifteen. During this
time she makes friends in Christina, Will, but also
enemies, such as Eric and Peter. During the
physical training section, Christina is forced to
fight one of the Dauntless-born initiates, and tries
to tap out, and Eric takes her to “The Pit” where Above, Jeanine Matthews. She’s a Karen right?
she is told to hang on to the railing for five Tris and friends eventually infiltrate Erudite
minutes. Tris and Will encourage her, and she headquarters, capturing Peter, who was working
survives the cruel punishment, Soon after Tris is with them before putting Jeanine into the

order to control the Dauntless, perfect soldiers, but
learns that Tris is the person who killed Will, with
whom she was close. Later they are forced to leave
the serum doesn’t effect divergent people, such as by the ongoing hunt for divergent people.
Four and Tris. They are confused by the events
happening around them, but go along with it for a
bit in order to gain information. When they do so,
they learn about the attack on Tris’s home faction
of Abnegation, because Jeanine thinks that they are
harboring divergent citizens, who she wishes to
eliminate. This attack serves a dual purpose
because Abnegation controls the city’s
government. Tris is forced to kill will when he
attacks her under the influence of the control
serum. Tris also witnesses both of her parents get
murdered trying to protect her.

they head off for Amity, where they might be
Tris Prior is an excellent example of a dynamic
character who follows the hero’s journey. She -Divergent-
protected for long enough to recuperate and plan, begins as a quiet person with nothing to prove to a 2014 Movie, 2011 Novel
but it might not last for long. They have survived confident soldier with a plan Tris Prior
this far, but they haven’t had time to grieve their
losses, and their luck is running out. Will they be
able to restore order or will they die trying? Find
out in the next book/movie! (the sequel is called
“Insurgent,” for those who want to know)
