Word Processing Exercise 2 – Writing an Application Letter

Start by opening a new document in word.


Header and Footer Instruction
In the header, type the following information in Bold, using center alignment and a Times New
Roman 14-point font.

In the footer, use the page number function and use right alignment in the footer.
Make sure you close the header and/or footer when finished.

Document Settings
Set margin for the document to 1.50” left and right, top and bottom.
Select Arial, 12-point for the font.
Set the page orientation to portrait.
Select 1.5 for line spacing.
Set the size of your page to A4.

Instruction for Typing the Document


Insert the date that updates automatically and put it at the beginning of the document. Use left
alignment. Choose the format that shows the Month, the Date, and the Year.
Skip a line after the date and the begin typing the receiver of your letter by using mail merge.
You must have 3 receiver that automatically interchange when you view/print it.
Receiver must show this following.
 Title, First Name, Middle Initial, Last Name
 Position
 Name of Company
 Street, Barangay, City
 Province, Country
Skip a line after the receiver.
And then, make a greeting line for your 3 receiver that automatically change when you view or
print by using a mail merge.

degree in (your desired degree you want to finish in college, bold, and underline the text) at
(Name of the School, Full address of the school, bold, and underline the text). I am (your age)
and physically healthy. I would like to apply any position that would fit my qualifications. I’m
applying in your good office for I believe that my skill will improve.

Editing Instructions
Find the Phrase (I would like to apply any position and replace it with I would like to apply as
a/an (your specific position you want to apply) to your company.

Saving Instruction
Save your work on the desktop and name your document (Last Name, First Name, Middle
Initial) Application Letter. Then also save a copy with a PDF format.
