Hi Venkata Vuppalapati

This discussion is on the topic of organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). This

discussion gives useful information about Altruism. Altruism comes when someone wants to

support someone else without expecting anything in return. A typical example outside a

business environment would be someone driving a neighbor to work when their car is broken

down, while not receiving any gas money or monetary favors. Altruistic conduct in a business

environment is usually related to the task or mission the business group is focusing on.

Anyone who displays altruistic actions in a group setting may volunteer to work on specific

projects, volunteer to support or assist other employees with their work or other tasks, and

volunteer to do additional work to help other employees reduce their workloads. Workplace

altruism contributes to productivity and performance as it fosters healthy inter-employee

relationships; it may also reduce the burden on other workers, such as those who are stressed

without a little support, which in turn can improve productivity (Podsakoff, MacKenzie, &

Podsakoff, 2018).
