The three divine sisters have been identified as faith, hope, and love.

Consider them three

beautiful sisters joined hand in hand, swirling around as if in a dance. Faith and hope eventually
fade away, leaving love to dance alone forever.

This image may appear strange until we realize that faith and hope were there to guide love until
she was mature enough to be alone. For she exists as the greatest of the sisters and deserves to be
first, just as Christ remains the greatest of man's sons and deserves to be first. Faith, hope, and
love are also known as theological virtues.

The Christian life—how we live in response to God and his new work in us—is founded on faith,
hope, and love. Everything we do as Christians is related to these three virtues, and they all have
a longing, expectation, or desire that will be fully realized one day when Christ returns in glory.
