A-3.TARGET STRENGTH FOR MIX PROPORTIONING

f' ck = f ck + 1.65 s
Where
f' ck = target average compressive strength at 28 days,
f ck = characteristic compressive strength at 28 days, and s = standard deviation
From (IS: 10262-2009) Table 1, standard deviation, s = 3.5 N/mm2
Therefore,target strength = 20 + 1.65 *4.0= 26.6 N/mm2
But as per MoSRT&H Table 1700-5 Target mean strength 30 N/mm2
A-4.SELECTION OF WATER-CEMENT RATIO
As per IS 456:2000 Table-5 Max Water-Cement Ratio is 0.60
Based on experience,adopt water-cement ratio = 0.50
A-5.SELECTION OF WATERCONTENT
From IS:10262 Table 2, maximum water content for =186 (for 25mm to 50mm slump range),
For Every 25mm Slump add 3% Extra Water
Estimated water content for 25mm Slump =186+((186*0)/100)=186 liter
As Super Plasticizer is used, water content can be reduced up 20 percent and above (as per IS 10262-2009)
Based on trails with super plasticizer, water content reduction of 0.1397 has been achieved.
Hence the arrived water content = 186*0.8603= 160 lts.
A-6.CEMENT CONTENT
Water cement ratio : 0.50
Cement Content = 235.000 kgs.
as per IS 456 Table-5 minimum cement content for PCC = 260 kg/m3
Based on experience, adopt cement content with Fly Ash = 320.0 kg/m3
Hence Cement content O.K
A-7.PROPORTION OF VOLUME OF COARSE AGGREGATE AND FINE AGGREGATE
From table 3, IS 10262:2009 Table No.3,Volume of Coarse Aggregate Corresponding to 20mm Size aggregate and fine aggregate Zone
III for water-cement ratio of 0.6=0.64
In the present case water -cement ratio is 0.50
therefore Volume of Coarse aggregate is required tobe incresed to decrese the fine aggregate content. As the water-cement ratio is
lower by 0.00 the proportion of volume of coarse aggregate is incresed by (at the rate of +/-0.01 for every +/-0.05 change in water-
cement ratio)
therefore, corrected proportion of volume of coarse aggregate for the water-cement ratio of 0.60=0.64
Therefore volume of coarse aggregate = 0.64*100 = 64%
Volume fine aggregate = 100-64 = 36%
A-8.MIX CALCULATION
The mix calculations per unit volume of concrete shall be as follows:
a) Volume of concrete = 1 m3
b) Volume of cement = (Mass of cement / Specific gravity of cement)*(1 / 1000)
= (235/ 3.15)*(1/1000)
= 0.075m3
c) Volume of water = (Mass of water /Specific gravity of water)*(1 / 1000)
= (160/1)*(1/1000)
= 0.160 m3
d) Volume of Fly Ash @ 10 %
by mass of cementitious material) = (Mass of Fly Ash / Sp. gr.of Fly Ash)*(1 / 1000)
= ( 85/2.2)*(1 / 1000)
= 0.039m3
e) Volume of chemical admixture ( PCE Based)@ 1.20 %
by mass of cementitious material) = (Mass of chemical admixture / Sp. gr.of admixture)*(1 / 1000)
= ( 3.2/1.08)*(1 / 1000)
= 0.003m3
f) Volume of all in aggregate = [ a - ( b + c + d + f )]
= 1 - ( 0.075+0.160+0.039+0.003 )
= 0.723 m3
