 WHAT IS MEAN ?
The mean is the mathematical average of a set of
two or more numbers. The arithmetic mean and the
geometric mean are two types of mean that can be
calculated. The formula for calculating the
arithmetic mean is to add up the numbers in a set
and divide by the total quantity of numbers in the
set.

 What Is the Arithmetic Mean?

The arithmetic mean is the simplest
and most widely used measure
of a mean, or average.
It simply involves taking the sum
of a group of numbers,
then dividing that sum by the count
of the numbers used in the series.
 The marks obtained by 6 students in a
class test are 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30. Find
EXAMPLE the mean.
Solution:
20+22+24+26+28+30=150
150 devided by 6
= 25
Therefore, mean = 25

 GEOMETRIC
MEAN
The geometric mean is an average that multiplies all
values and finds a root of the number. For a dataset
with n numbers, you find the nth root of their
product. You can use this descriptive statistic to
summarize your data.

=9 x 4 =36
= √36 = 6
