Mr.

Smee Character Analysis

Mr. Smee from Peter Pan; A boy who would not grow up

Body Type: Endomorphic

Temperament: Viscerotonic
Mr. Smee has an endomorphic body type as he can be seen in the movie as a fat guy with a
wide hip, narrow shoulders and skinny ankles thus resulting to a pear like shape of body. He has
excess fats in the body especially in his arms and thigh, and he also has a huge belly which is very
evident in the movie every time captain Hook will grab him through his shirt.
Though Mr. Smee was considered a secondary antagonist in the movie, he is oddly a genial
man for a pirate. This was manifested when Mr. Smee tried to help captain Hook from the
crocodile and the crocodile seem to listen to him. Also, him being genial was manifested when the
kids which captured by captain Hook seems to love him (as he cannot lay a fist on them and does
their darning) despite his belief that they fear him. He was also portrayed in the movie as a
rather stupid but entertaining man interested in loot rather than Hook's more evil pleasures. His
love for affection was also manifested when he offered to save Wendy from the plank, if only she
promises to be his mother. It was also manifested in the movie how even-tempered and tolerant
he is as he never got angry with captain Hook even if the captain keeps on beating him for small
mistakes. Also, he has shown to be outrageously loyal, to the point of unabashedly jumping into
action to protect the captain, specifically, from the jaws of the crocodile. Unlike captain Hook,
Smee is soft-spoken and genial. He nevertheless enjoys piracy, and longs to abandon Neverland
in favor of returning to a life of plunder along the seven seas. Although an antagonistic character,
Smee was not truly evil; he simply obeyed his evil captain's orders. In the book, he reformed after
Hook died.
