ICAN HAREM

Ican Harem is a full time artist and lives in Bali. He is focusing on exploring about subculture
phenomenon. Ican limitless artistic works are present in many forms and mediums such as
music, street arts, skateboards, fashion, and performance. He is one of the key person to
represent pop culture from Indonesia, while his artworks is sometimes mocking and
criticizing the pop culture it self.

Born in top of Sumatra, and raised in muslim sharia law, he entered Islamic boarding school,
his interest and skill in drawing lead him to entered Indonesian Institute of the Arts at
Yogyakarta. He didn’t finished his study and dropped out on final decision.
Out from the school, Ican Harem continues to explore the subculture movement. In
underground music scene, he is the cofounder of Cangkang Serigala, black metal karaoke
performance , he also founded anusapatis a confused grindcore set and liwoth for noise
doomed exploration.

His curiosity in exploring many different art forms and multi disciplinary arts brought him to
be part and involved in some institutions, projects and communities such as Cemeti Art
House (conetmporary art ), House Of Natural Fiber (HONF) art and science and Ace House
Collective and collective Rumah 23
.
In his practises, Ican joins and takes part in some group exhibition, as well as designs his
own gigs and diy gigs and perffromance. He is active in designing and producing
merchandise for local and international bands and brands. His artworks covered by many
local and international magazines and channels.

And now build a gabber unite with his partner Kas called GABBER MODUS OPERANDI
