Infographic Assignment

Background and Purpose:


Infographics are data-rich visual stories and a fast growing genre popularly used to persuade
or inform readers.

This project-based assignment is meant to guide you through the steps of data collection,
organization, and visualization to create your own infographic.

Overview:
There are 3 main steps in this assignment.

Step 1 Choosing a Topic and ● Choose your topic. Topic must be

Success Criteria:
- Choose a topic, and create a main title for the Infographic that shows your viewer the topic

- Infographic has at least 4 visual/facts/background information for your topic.

- You include research from at least 2 different sources and cite them.

- You develop 2 questions to answer on your topic

- You develop 2 sets of data organized in a table on your topic

- You create at least 2 graphs that you create - one being a circle graph (7s) or a scatter plot
(8s). You can use primary data (data you collect) or secondary data (trusted sources)

- clarity and visual appeal - think ‘does it grab the viewer’s attention?’

Instructions:
Choose a topic or theme
Determine questions of interest for data collection
Collect data from primary and/or secondary sources
Organize the data into tables of values or categories
Select graphs best suited to the data sets (remember the specific graph type you
need to include!)
Select a tool for creating the infographic (Canva, Docs, Slides…)
Organize graphs, text, and graphics in the infographic
Adjust format and design elements to make the infographic clear and visually
appealing
