1. Three (3) Things that I significantly learned from the readings

a. A deeper understanding of the political and social climate of the Philippines during the
Spanish colonial period, and the ways in which Del Pilar and other members of the
Propaganda Movement sought to address issues such as poverty, education, and
governance through their writing and activism.

b. An appreciation of the role those literary movements and cultural expression played in
shaping the political and national identity of the Philippines during the 19th century.

c. Insights into the strategies and tactics that Del Pilar and other members of the
Propaganda Movement used to promote their ideas, such as the use of vernacular
languages in literature and the establishment of newspapers and publications.

2. Three (3) Things that are still unclear to me

a. It's unclear to me what were the specific objectives and outcomes of his delegation, and
how it was perceived by the Spanish colonial government or the people at the time.

b. Another unclear thing would be how exactly Del Pilar's journey as a delegate in
Barcelona fit into the broader context of the Propaganda Movement and the struggle for
Philippine autonomy during the Spanish colonial period.

c. Finally, it is not clear to me how the Delegation was funded, who financed it and how
was the funding secured.

3. I used to think that….

It is likely that Del Pilar's journey to Barcelona was not an easy one, and he probably
faced many challenges and obstacles along the way. He would have likely had to
navigate the complex political landscape of the Spanish colonial government and the
prejudices of the Spanish society, as well as the lack of resources and support from his
own country.

4. Three (3) questions that I want to ask about the readings

a. What were the specific objectives and outcomes of Del Pilar's delegation to Barcelona?
How did his trip contribute to the overall struggle for Philippine autonomy during the
Spanish colonial period?

b. How did Del Pilar's journey as a delegate in Barcelona fit into the broader context of
the Propaganda Movement and the struggle for Philippine autonomy? How did his trip
contribute to the development of the Propaganda Movement and the shaping of the
Philippines' political and cultural identity during the 19th century?

c. How was Del Pilar received in Barcelona by the Spanish society, did he manage to
make the Spanish aware of the situation of Philippines?
