(MAIN CONCEPT) THE 3 STYLES: ( di ko sure if isasali natin sia sa macro)

TROPICAL DESIGN STYLE- volume matters most in this design style. Adhere with nature. The
use of passive design elements

Di an toh sasali sasabihin nlng: (ike sunshades, overhangs, shadings, form trees, wall, cross
ventilation system, insulation, large window openings and roof insulation.)

VERNACULAR- pays little attention to fashion and aesthetic and focuses more on the
functionality of the structure.

MODERN-

MICRO INFORMATION ABOUT THE HOUSE

COMFORT LEVEL
AMBIANCE- the character and the atmosphere of the place. Experiential to nature
- The suitable ambiance focuses on tropical
ADAPTABILITY- there is a relationship between the structure and the environment or your “site”
- when you say adaptable building it must conform to the site and not contradict with the
environment.
SUSTAINABILITY- self sustain yung house since
LOCAL MATERIALS - pictures explain nlgn impromptu
FROM RECORDINGS
OUTSIDE LOOK
- Corner of the house ung mga column umiilaw siya. May light sa loob ng capiz
- Bamboo has been used since predominant sia sa lugar. (since trial and error
methodology yung ginamit ng architect nung ginawa niya yung bahay- conclusion niya-
di daw maganda na na expose yung bamboo sa weather but the bamboo in the house
took more than a decade bago siya naging ganon. (which is close to deterioration)
- CONCLUSION of the architect when using traditional materials consider yung wear
and tear or the damage na pwedeng mangyari sa material pag naexpose sa weather.
- Experience wise as a young designer, was entrusted with this kind of project and able to
produce a concept which the architect thinks is ideal for the said project. Fulfilling in the
part of the architect but in construction phase maraming distraction because of the
acceptability level of the said project in the community. Since di pa masyadong
naintroduce ang ganon design dati
- Ceiling boards are the flooring from the old house. The architect device something na
ang mumukhang old.
- Preservatives used in wood specially woods that are exposed in the weather. Chemicals

Interior of the house

LIVING AREA
- What is outside actually is also reflected inside. Vice versa. There is harmony between
the elements outside from the inside. Use of capiz has been predominantly used in the
design because of the idea of trying to come up with a connection form the past to the
present and trying to connect it to the future. (the architect tries to sustain the house for
several decades) - there is a satisfaction in the part of the architect kasi more than a
decade na yung house.
- Small space(interior) but if you play with volumes there is a ceiling height. It makes the
ambiance different (CATHEDRAL CEILING) tawags a ceiling na ginawa ng architect.
- There are also structural elements ng wood. Idea is to create a high ceiling. Notice there
is a glass window sa taas. Para pumasok ung light for natural lighting. Para kahit sa
umaga no need for electricity consumption.
- Widely used natural stone. For cladding, combine it with wood.
- Furniture purchased by the owner's interior is eclectic. Combination of different styles.
KITCHEN DINING AREA
- Right wing is the dining area, the opening is through and through. Cross ventilation was
introduced. Window for visuals outside.
- Capiz framed with aluminum instead of wood. Innovation that was introduced by the
architect.
- Details of the cabinet made out of bamboo. Furniture design of the table for the owner.
Capiz from the old house. Galing sa malakig hagdanan ng old house. Reminds the
owner of their old house. Walang nagbago dun. Point is there is a connection. Need to
satisfy the needs and wants of the owner.
- Cross ventilation meron din sa dining and kitchen area. Air circulation and quality is good
for its comfort level.
- Island kitchen. Ginamit is wood. High maintenance. Wood cabinet. Capiz also to still
integrate vernacular design in the house.
- CR for visitors, pantry or the storage area and laundry area with exit door

Traditional material used

- Capiz, natural stone and bamboo to makes it vernacular, and wood

- Traditional element RUNO in the ceiling used outside,
- CR glass block
- Bisazza tiles- From glass mosaic, to cement tiles, parquet flooring & ceramics, Bisazza
has a wealth of collections for interior design, pool design and landscape design.
- (ginamitan ng modern technology di ko alam ano ang tinutukoy ni ser jan ) para daw
maging comfortable. Exhaust fan.

Wala na ako narecord nung nag lecture na siya sa labas

From Ashley:

LANTERN HOUSE

CONCEPT: Tropical (In terms of orientation, it is oriented towards the North)

Ø Openings – oriented to the North – that makes it Tropical in terms of orientation

Ø Around the House – there is cross ventilation in every space

- At the same time there is a fusion of vernacular because it is utilized in

local materials (Capiz Window – an old building element)

- Capiz windows in every room – have Aluminum Frame instead of wood

Ø Post – came from the old house that existed before – utilize those materials
(wood) to make a connection from the past to the present and it will be translated
in the future

Ø Lantern House – Is an example of a Tropical concept combined with vernacular

using local materials plus modern technology used inside the house to make it
comfortable for the users

- The building seems to float because of the ledges

Ø Stone (Natural stone) – locally produced in Nueva Vizcaya, came from Sta. Fe

- It makes a little bit organic

Ø Site – more than 1000 sq. m

Ø In Architectural Visual – to locate your house it must be twice the length from the
road so that you can visualize the house or appreciate the structure properly

- Twice the length if possible

Ø Landscape – not an artificial landscape

- Natural plants that are present in our locality

Ø Entrance Area / Porch

· Form – traditional form; a little bit vernacular – Isneg Group

- An Inverted Boat

Ø Ceiling Board – those are the flooring of the old house

*What is outside is also being reflected inside

*There is a harmony between the elements outside and inside

Ø Roof – a Cathedral Ceiling

Ø Glass – help reflect natural light

- the illumination is still okay without using the electricity

Ø Natural Stone – clad in walls and combine with wood

Ø The Interior is Eclectic – a combination of different styles

Ø Kitchen

· Openings – through and through; there is a cross ventilation

· Island Kitchen – wood (worktop)
