MACRO ANALYSIS OF THE SITE:

The site is located in Bayombong- the seat of the Provincial Capitol of Nueva Vizcaya. The
Gaddang word "Bayongyong," which implies the confluence of two or more rivers, is whence the name
Bayombong originated. The first tribal conflict in the region is said to have started when a particular
tribe arrived and attempted to invade the location. As a symbol of the Gaddangs' first triumph in the
battle for their private domains, the place was dubbed "Bayumbung."
Bayombong was founded on June 12, 1739 when Father Pedro Freire, an Augustinian priest,
celebrated the first mass in a makeshift chapel at the foot of the Bangan Hill. The area however came
under the administration of the Dominican Friars after a few months. In 1754, the local government was
formally organized.
Like other towns of Nueva Vizcaya, agriculture is the foremost economic activity. Rice, corn,
coconut, fruit and vegetables, poultry and livestock are the main farm products. Bayombong is home to
several institutions of higher learning as well as to a modern hospital. Several resorts are also located in
the town. Being the provincial capital, the town offers great opportunities for investment. Having a
sizable population which includes students from neighboring provinces, Bayombong is ripe for the
establishment of a commercial complex. Other businesses that can be put up are the production of high
value commercial crops and the processing thereof, commercial poultry and hog raising, raising of
exotic animals such as rabbit, and deer, tourist related projects, and small to medium scale factories.
