INTRODUCTION

Law refers to a system of rules and regulations that are created by a governing body and
enforced through social institutions. These rules govern behavior and conduct in society
and provide a framework for resolving disputes and maintaining order.

Laws can be categorized into various types such as civil law, criminal law,
constitutional law, administrative law, and international law. Civil law governs the legal
relationships between individuals, while criminal law deals with crimes committed
against the state or society. Constitutional law relates to the fundamental principles and
rules governing a country's government, and administrative law regulates the actions of
administrative agencies. International law governs the legal relations between countries
and international organizations.

Laws are enforced through various means such as the police, courts, and other legal
institutions. The purpose of law is to promote justice, fairness, and the protection of
individual rights and freedoms, as well as to maintain social order and stability.

The goal of law is to give all members of society a basic level of security, predictability,
equality, freedom, and justice. Law is a body of rules that impose obligations and grant
authority.

A Bachelor of Law is an undergraduate degree program in law. It typically takes 4 years

to complete and provides students with a comprehensive understanding of legal
principles, theories, and systems. The curriculum includes courses in areas such as
constitutional law, criminal law, property law, and international law, as well as courses
in legal research and writing.

The purpose of a law program is to prepare students for a career in law, whether as a
practicing lawyer, a judge, or a legal-related field such as business, government, or
human rights.

My interest in law dates back to my teenage years, when I became interested in news
and politics. I realized that law is the foundation of justice and is the fundamental pillar
of a free and just society.

HISTORY OF LAW

The history of law is a fascinating and complex subject that spans thousands of years
and numerous civilizations. Throughout history, laws have been developed and changed
to reflect the values and beliefs of the people, as well as to provide a framework for
resolving conflicts and ensuring order in society. In this essay, we will examine the
evolution of law from its earliest beginnings to the present day, exploring the major
legal systems and historical events that have shaped the development of law throughout
the world.
One of the earliest forms of law was based on custom and tradition. This type of law,
known as customary law, was based on the unwritten rules and practices of a particular
community or group of people. It was often closely tied to religious beliefs and served
as a way to regulate behavior and resolve disputes within the community. For example,
in ancient Babylon, the Code of Hammurabi, which dates back to 1754 BCE, was one
of the earliest written codes of law and regulated a wide range of activities, including
commerce, family life, and property rights.

Another important early legal system was developed by the ancient Greeks. The Greeks
believed in the importance of reason and the rule of law and developed a legal system
that was based on the principles of natural justice. This legal system was primarily used
in the city-state of Athens, where citizens could participate in the administration of
justice by serving as judges in court cases.

In contrast, the Roman legal system was based on a set of written laws known as the
Twelve Tables, which were created in 451 BCE. The Roman legal system was heavily
influenced by the Greek system, but also incorporated elements of customary law. Over
time, the Roman legal system evolved into a highly sophisticated system that was based
on written laws, judicial decisions, and the principle of stare decisis, which requires
judges to follow previous court decisions in similar cases.

The Roman legal system had a profound influence on the development of Western legal
traditions, and many elements of Roman law were incorporated into the legal systems of
Europe and later, into the laws of the United States. The Roman law concept of
“innocent until proven guilty” is still used in many countries today, and the principle of
stare decisis is still an important aspect of common law systems.

emphasizing the importance of reason, individual rights, and the rule of law. This led to

statutes. The French Revolution of 1789 was a particularly significant event in the
history of law, as it marked the beginning of a new era in which laws were written and
codified to reflect the principles of liberty, equality, and fraternity.

In the 20th century, the growth of international trade and globalization led to the
development of international law, which governs the relationships between nations and
provides a framework for resolving disputes between countries. International law is
based on a set of written treaties and agreements and is enforced by international courts
and tribunals. The creation of the United Nations in 1945 marked a new era in the
development of international law and has played a crucial role in promoting peace and
stability around the world.

In conclusion, the history of law is a long and complex one that spans thousands of
years and encompasses numerous civilizations and legal systems. From the earliest
forms of customary law based on tradition and religion, to the sophisticated legal

been shaped by historical events and societal values. Today, the importance of the rule

change, it is likely that the law will continue to adapt and develop, reflecting the values

BIOGRAPHY OF WILLIE E. GARY

The University of Navarra is where I´m going to study next year the doble degree in
Law and Business Administration and Management. There are several reasons why I am
interested in studying the double degree program in Law and Business Administration
and Management (ADE) at the University of Navarra.

Firstly, I have always been interested in pursuing a career in the legal and business
industries. I believe that studying both disciplines simultaneously will provide me with
a well-rounded education and allow me to develop a deeper understanding of how these
two fields intersect.

Moreover, the University of Navarra has an excellent reputation for providing students
with a rigorous and challenging academic program. I am excited about the prospect of
being part of an intellectually stimulating environment that will challenge me to reach
my full potential.

Additionally, the University of Navarra offers practical learning opportunities such as

internships, research projects, and volunteer programs, which will provide me with
hands-on experience in both legal and business settings. This practical experience will
be invaluable in helping me develop the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in
my future career.

Furthermore, the university has established relationships with many companies and

graduation.
