UAL LEVEL 3 ESPORTS YR2 – THE FINAL MAJOR PROJECT

SECONDARY RESEARCH: THE
FORMAT
EXAMPLE 1 - LW
• https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EowlBzsLkQ&ab_cha
nnel=ChuckleSandwich

• The Humour mixed with general discussion as it allows the

flow of the podcast to feel natural. I feel it helps the audience
engage with it.

• I do feel that they sidetrack a bit too much. It may be

the purpose of the podcast however I think that the points get
ignored too much and they must push back to the track at most
points
• We will use light humour. This is will be done by not
forcing any jokes as if using a script, instead we will tell a
joke if we feel like using one fits in the topic we discuss
SECONDARY
RESEARCH: THE
FORMAT
EXAMPLE 2 - LW
• https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4azFfxcRNk
&ab_channel=XPtoLevel3

• They stick to one theme and use different topics to

discuss the idea, this allows them to make differing
points in a fluent way by presenting good examples of
said events taking place.

• I do feel that they could talk more about

each topic and elaborate on how they connect in a more
concise way as a means to give one final point.

• If we come to having one topic that can be applied to

multiple thing's I would like to connect them all into
the singular topic step by step.
SECONDARY • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvAbyqiupJo&ab_channel=OfflineTVPodcast

RESEARCH: THE
FORMAT • I like the group dynamic; they can get along and each add to the podcast's topics

• The number of topics, for the podcast time we will have I do not want to grab too
EXAMPLE 3 - many points that could be their own session in of itself

LW
• I will make sure that whatever topic we use is one that my partner can also discuss
with confidence.
INTENDED AUDIENCE:
INTENDED AUDIENCE FOR EPISODE - JR

• Our intended audience for this episode of our podcast will be young people aged 13-21.
• Our target audience will also be people who enjoy games and have an interest in them.
• We also want our audience to be people who play games as a hobby and are active in industry
news and updates.
HOW WE WILL REACH OUR INTENDED
AUDIENCE - JR
• We will use clips and images from the subject games to maintain attention from viewers.
• We will try to use humour and jokes to relate to the audience.
• Our subject games are popular and have been played by many young gamers.
WHY WE CHOSE THIS AUDIENCE FOR OUR
PODCAST - JR
• We decided to choose young gamers aged between 13 and 21 for our intended audience as we
can easily relate to them.
• We also have common knowledge of the games being discussed and many of the people in
this demographic have played them.
• We also fit into this demographic too so we can easily be entertaining towards people in the
same group.
SECONDARY RESEARCH: THE TOPICS
SONS OF THE FOREST HAS ITS ENDING CRITICISED BY FANS - JR

• The new "The Forest" sequel "Sons Of The Forest" had

fans confused about what happened during the ending
scene of the game.
• Many fans were left confused and some even upset and
angry at how the developers decided to finish the famous
sequels story.
• Some fans were also disappointed with the lack of
activities and content the early release of the game
contains.
PRISON ARCHITECT – JR &
LW
• Prison Architect is a game about building and
managing a prison and its inmates.
• The Developers did research about US Prison
systems and how they function, they did this
through articles and reviews with ex-prisoners and
employees.
• The game was also released in 2015 and has been
receiving updates and mod support ever since,
along with DLC.
TABS (TOTALLY ACCURATE
BATTLE SIMULATOR) - JR &
LW
• Tabs is a Simulator style game in which you put two armies of unique units
against one another.

• As the player progresses through the game, they unlock new units to deploy
and use against the AI enemy, and they may gain more deployment points in
higher difficulty levels, to allow them to place more units.

• The Game even has a Custom Unit Creator which allowed the community to
create several Original Characters along with other characters from other
Medias.
A handful of Units aren't given to you at first. Instead, you must find them by searching each map for things that are out of the ordinary. This is especially the case for
the Legacy Faction; The entire faction must be found on the Legacy Map.
THE PAID

locations like The
United Kingdom.
OTHER • Typically, the advertisements are on YouTube, and they can be found on almost
any genre of video.
PROMOTIONS OF
• They usually show how to move your location but keep it short as their target
NORD VPN - LW audience uses the web frequently and would have a decent idea on how it works.
THE SHOW TITLE
THE • We have selected the Mythcast due to the
previously adopted username of Mythee from Jack.
MYTHCAST - LW The name is a simple play on this name and the
word Podcast.
WHY CHOOSE THIS TITLE? - LW

• We chose this title as we wanted it to relate to one of us in

some way, as opposed to making a new name based on
nothing
FEEDBACK
ON THE TITLE -
LW
• Our main feedback was that it
should also mix my username
(Atluswish) in addition to Mythee.
We didn’t feel that both names
can mix without making it too long.

• As seen to the
side using https://namecombiner.
com/mix-names there are not many
good options.
THE LOGO
THE MYTHCAST
LOGO - JR
WHY THIS
LOGO? - LW &
JR
• I feel it was a nice and
simplistic art style which gives
off a vibrant impression to the
audience.
• It shows the name of the
podcast in a lo-fi kind of style
• I like the use of glow effects and
shadows as it gives a sense of
depth into the logo
FEEDBACK FOR
THE LOGO - LW

Positives
• "I like the character in the logo
I think it's very original."
• "Colours really flashy and
• "I don't like the font I think
good art." that it ruins the logo a little"
Criticism
• "I don't think that the
pink/black work greatly for
the title"
PRIMARY

• Through this we found that generally the logo is enjoyed for

its originality and colour.

feedback on our work

• We will in particular have our

Logo and Podcast itself
reviewed.
POTENTIAL QUESTIONS - LW

• On our forms for the podcast, we may ask about the

following:

Out of the podcast's run time, what part did you enjoy Was the Advertisement too long?
the most?

Did the stories go at a suitable time?

Did you like any one story the
most? If so, which?
EXTRA EQUIPMENT / PROPS
EXTRA
EQUIPMENT -
JR
• We will use a studio boom mic to
capture the audio without being
able to see the microphone in the
footage
• We will use lighting and a dark
background to make the audience
focus on us
• We will also use comfortable
chairs that will make the podcast
setting feel more relaxed
PROPS - JR

• We could have plushies from some of the games in the

background
• We could wear our esports shirts in the podcast for
promotion
• BPC Buccaneers metal water bottle can be in the
background
WHY WE WILL
USE THESE - JR
• We will use these props and equipment because
they will make the podcast setting appear more
relaxed and laid back
• They will also help to increase the quality of the
podcast (audio)
• They also link what we are talking about to the set
as having props and references to the games will
look better for the audience
ONGOING REFLECTION / EVALUATION
PROGRESS TRACKING - JR

• We will be keeping track of

progress on our Weebly websites,
for example, keeping track of the
dates where progress was made and
what progress has happened
• This will help to identify how
much progress was made within a
certain timeframe
• It will also help to show what was
worked on during those days
LOGGING
CRITICISM - LW

• We will have our reviews

from our forms into account
on our websites to show what
changes were made from the
podcast based on what our
audience felt was needed.
FOCUS GROUPS - JR

• We will regularly discuss the project and podcast with each other, so we are both on the same
page about what is being done
• This will also help to make sure we are both happy with what is being done too
• When starting off our project, we discussed together what games and subjects we were going to
talk about, so I think this concept works well
