Sample Type:- This procedure applies to all electronic controls, assemblies, and
components that are located in the interior of the refrigerator, freezer, or icemaker.
This includes the sub-components, mountings, and enclosures.
Equipment Required:-
Procedure:
1. Three sets of samples shall be placed in a clean sealed glass container adjacent
to, but not touching, a small slab of unsalted butter and 100ml of beaker
containing potable water. These serve as control samples.
3. The refrigerator should be running for at least 48 hours prior to testing. The
samples shall be conditioned to 20°C prior to assessment.
4. The taste and odor shall be evaluated by a panel of at least three people by using
the table that is shown below. Each assessor will be given two sets of control &
tested samples(water & butter) for assessment. Odour assessment to be done
prior to taste starting with water followed by butter . A rating of 2 or 3
(‘moderate’ or ‘bad’) by one or more of the panelists shall be sufficient cause for
rejection.
