ENGLISH LITERATURE – CLASS X PROJECT

FOR BOARD EXAMINATION

The following are the guidelines for the English Literature Project-
The project carries 20 marks which are extremely crucial for a commendable score
in the subject. All students are expected to do the project with utmost sincerity and
focus on proper organization and presentation.
The project will be done on single-side ruled sheets. Pictures and relevant
photographs can be stuck on the blank side.
Students can refer to the workbook notes and content available online for ideas
but care must be taken to not copy the content blindly. Original work will help you
score good marks.
Write a total of six assignments of about 400 words each.-
(a) Character analysis of Jane Thompson/Jesse Owens.

(b) Appreciation of literary qualities of William Wordsworth / Maya Angelou.

(c) Imagine you are Margot. Describe your feelings at the end of the story. Share
what you went through and how you feel about your future.

(d) Imagine an alternative ending for the story ‘The Blue Bead’.

(e) Summarize the poem ‘I Know why the Caged Bird Sings’. Also outline its
underlying theme and purpose.

(f) Comment upon the relevance of the poem ‘Patriot’/ ‘Abou Ben Adhem’ in
today’s modern times. How is the poem effective in giving a valuable
message in the current situation?
